Cask @ Harp, London. Almost black with a lasting beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and a little roasted malt. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Sweet finish. 270413
Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW - London. Pours deep brown with a frothy, tan head. Nose carries faint roasted malts and some minerals. Light sweet flavor with well toasted bread, bits of ash and charred malts, light burnt bread, subtle burnt leaves. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Lightly drying to finish with further minerals, ash, lightly sugary burnt bread. It’s always a real feat when a brewery makes an interesting, tasty mild, and this one is easily both. maeib (8751) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - MAY 19, 2010
Cask conditioned handpump Great Eastern Brighton. A black beer with a thin whitish head. The aroma has chocolate and light roast. The same can be found in the mouth together with licorice. There is sweetness and it’s on the thin side. harrisoni (19189) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - FEB 2, 2009
Cask handpump at The Phoenix, Canterbury. Dark ruby mild, I like the sour dark fruit aroma. It’s almost like an old ale. Plenty of dark fruit jam. Oddly enjoyable. Ethereal (2421) - Los Angeles, California, USA - AUG 3, 2008
Cask at Kingston BF, 28th June 2008, with renffisch. Very, very dark brown and completely still. Dried apricot and liquorice aroma. Fruity, sweet malt flavour and a soft, quite full palate. A decent dark mild.

cask @ kingston bf 08. strange fermented fruit/berry nose with a touch of petrochemicals. hazy darkest brown, thin off-white rim. Sweet malty flavour with a bit of liqorice and still fruity, quite watery though with a cardboard finish. fairly well balanced but wasn’t too impressed. A Mes rate: Cask at the Trafalgar.
Dark cloudy brown with a thin off white head and good condition. Big berry fruit aroma with a bit of tar and liquorice. A good smell. Flavour is more of the same but even better. Plenty of character and a lovely balance between the liquorice and the fruit. Nice lingering chocolate at the finish. Fantastic mouthfeel for a mild. Drinks above it’s strength. An adorable mild.
