Tap at Casc Aberdeen. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas have a superb hazelnut praline. A roasty bitterness and earth with the enveloping cafe smoothness. Tap @brewdog Nottingham. Pours dark with tan cream top. Aroma has coffee caramel chocolate, vanilla, raisin, so all one can want from a sweet milk stout. Taste is medium to full sweet with a background bitterness that never really asserts itself. Palate is medium body, creamy, sticky, feel, soft carbonation, edging towards flat and a lazy rather than long finish with flicks of bitterness. Pint in brewdog shoreditch. Good stuff. Coffee up front, mellowing into chocolate. Excellent drop and taste for the relatively weak percentage - almost tastes imperial.

Tap. Arcade Beers, Huddersfield. Hazy, very dark brown. Messy swirl of tan head. Nose has milky chocolate. Sweet, roast malts. Coffee grinds. Some coconut and almond. Taste is light, milky sweet, with some roast coffee, roast malt bitterness. Palate lets things down a bit. Light, and way too fizzy. Chocolate and coffee bitter finish. Poured from keg at Junkyard, half-pint shared with Finn. Jet black body. Bright naked surface. Minimal lacing. Mocha smell, nicely roasted. Roasted black malty flavours with hints of cocoa and coffee. Prolonged ending. Likable mid-sweet stout (Saturday pub crawl in Nottingham 20.02.2016).
