Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Cary, NC. This beer is a crystal clear golden color with a thick white head. The aroma is big on grain and has very little hop to it. The taste is fairly weak with an AAL grain flavor. Bottom line, this is a good beer to drink when you want to drink a lot of beer. This is the best beer Costa Rica has to offer. It has a wonderful mix of rice and malts that gives a very regal taste for the country. Not the best beer in the world but it is the best from the region and country. holdenn (2116) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 14, 2011
This was the beer I drank nearly everyday in CR. Really not a bad beer. Clear yellow light Malty nose. Lightly sweet malts not too complex but fresh and tasty. The fresh ones surpass the graininess of older ones. But a decent malt profile and pretty decent.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2015 As a Costa Rican I have to give this beer a good rating. It is my favorite of all the widely commercially available beers over here. It is incredibly refreshing and absolutely perfect for hot weather. I always drink this beer at the beach straight from the can and it’s one of the best experiences ever. It’s bitter, not sweet at all, but very drinkable on most situations. Also, for someone who’s not very tolerant to alcohol like me, it’s very easy on the stomach. Hangover is minimal.
On the negative side, well, the beer is nothing extraordinary. Aroma is very mild. Appearance is "piss yellow" as described by some, with a minimal head that doesn’t last long. Doesn’t go well with food at all. neptho (3) - Escazu, COSTA RICA - JAN 11, 2007 does not count
This is probably as close to Budweiser as you’re going to find in Costa Rica. It’s OK, has twice the alcohol content, and is not too sugary.
However, if you can find Pilsen Rojo (Red), it has 6% alcohol and TASTES like a beer! BrewMoose (83) - Florida, USA - APR 28, 2013
12oz bottle. Drinking out of the bottle. Nice malt flavor backed up by just enough bitterness. Finishes nice and dry. Lawn mower beer.

Can: in the van from Liberia Airport to Playa Flamingo: while Imperial is the clear favorite the moderatly grainy medium body refreshed me from the physical and mental heat wave one encounters when going from the Northern climnes to the equatorial area. Consumed n roughly 38 seconds. Sweating commences now.
