Green 0.5L bottle 3.5% [email protected] & [email protected] Luleå Sweden 11th Jan 2014. Pearly white modest 1finger diminishing head on clear golden straw body. Fruity hops, grass, malts, berries, hey in aroma. Caramel malts, mild hops, toffee in taste. Mild slippery, soft carb’ed, nice body. Ends with grains , hoppy malts, milk, butter. Overall a nice, modest sister of the real one, probably the best 3.5% on the swedish market.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2014 500 ml can labelled 3.5 ABV, poured into a footed Pilsner Urquell glass, pours a clear pale golden with a medium white foam head that dissipated fast. Aroma of wheat bread, hay, honey and apricots. Taste of wheat bread, cereal, honey and herbs. Taste is light sweet and medium-light bitter. Palate is light bodied, thin texture and average carbonation. Compared to the standard 4.4% ABV version the aroma is the same but fainter. Light body, thin texture and medium carbonation. Good for a 3.5% ABV beer, but still far from the regular brew.

Bottle, june 30th 2013Clear golden body, small vanishing white head. Aroma of grassy hops, grain and mustard (that can’t be the intention can it?). Light crisp malt taste, with dusty hops, light caramel and weak bitterness. Weak and thin body. Surely it should be possible to make a low alcohol Urquell better than this?

Pretty good scent and nothing wrong with the taste. I have been drinking this beer with higher alcohol percentage, but it was disgusting. Should I mention that it was on tap as well. Perfectly okay to taste too.

Smaken är helt i sin ordning, precis som en pilsner ska vara men kroppen är alldeles för liten och hela upplevelsen blir tam. Slutsats: den håller inte hela vägen, tyvärr.

Can. Let’s see what the 3,5 curse has done to Mr. Urquell: pale yellow body, small white head. Isn’t this paler than the normal version? I think so. Aroma is pale malts, smooth and slightly sweet, but faint. Far, far in the back some faint hints of grassy hops appear. Or is it just my imagination reverberating with memories of the real deal? Taste is smooth, sweet pale malts as usual with Urquell, only fainter. Hints of dry, grassy hops. The worst thing about this bleak version is not, however, the fading of the general ingredients, but rather the lack of crispness; this beer seems dull on the edges and a bit thin - pretty much the opposite of the assertive crispness of the original Pilsner Urquell. Oh (Big) Brother, Where Art Thou?

From a 50 cl can. Pale golden clear beer with a small offwhite head. Hoppy and malty aroma. Fruity and hoppy flavour. A nice beer with not so much alcohol.
