3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2003 Bottled. Good to see Kölsch popping up as a summer style in America. This has a clean wheaty smell upon opening, though some adjunct seems present. Pours a slightly dark yellow, like a hearty pilsener, under a thin head with minimal lacing. Taste is slightly malty and wheaty with some citrus zest, and a just a bit of German hops. This doesn't match up to Goose Island Summertime, the only other Kölsch I've rated, but it's a nice, light ale. And as the list of top Kölsches to the right demonstrates, it's a hard style to make an exceptional example in.
Bottle poured a clear gold with a lasting off white head. Aromas of bread, citrus and light earthiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of bread, earthiness, chalkiness and light citrus with a crisp lingering chalky finish. KajII (800) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - APR 16, 2012
Bottle. The pour was a light clear yellow with a huge (3-4 finger) white frothy head that was mostly lasting with a little fair spotty lacing.
The aroma was a tad funky with a straw like malt, a grassy hop and a soapy yeast and had a mild note of citrus (lemon).
The taste was a lot like the aroma with a grainy feel and a bit acidic at first and finished lightly bitter with just a mild hint of citrus at the end. The flavor was short lived, very mild and faded fast.
Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a decent carbonation.
Overall a light funky tasting brew that would fit it rather nicely on a hot summer’s day...

Pours a light blonde with a light aroma. Light flavor to not bad. I am like this thing. Good yay! crossovert (12912) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 17, 2011
Grainy, husky, what yeast strain? This stuff is flat and straight up boring. Yeaaahck DasBierChef (1083) - Hudson, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 17, 2011
This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity.

It poured a golden color with a small white head. The aromas were of bread and some grain. It tasted mainly of bread as well with some malts. Not much going on here. dekester1 (366) - Town of Maple Creek, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 5, 2010
UPDATED: SEP 11, 2010 Poured a standard gold with a medium head that faded to lace rather quickly. Aroma was the highlight here - corn, sweet malt with a hint of fruit. Taste was of malt, corn and mild hops with slighly abrupt sour finish. Mouthfeel as average, at best. Overall a decent Kolsch, but I would probably pay less for something with comparable characteristics. RickTStiles (826) - Houston, Texas, USA - AUG 6, 2010
pours yellow with a very thin white head and no lacing. dank, citric aroma. thin body, slightly tart, slightly citric. hardly any finish. Highly forgetable. jcr (2705) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - JUN 22, 2010
Bottle. Golden, clear body with a frothy, white head, rapidly diminishing. The aroma leaves the impression that the beer is going to taste sweet: Notes of bread, hay, cookie, toast, grass and herbs. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Light to medium body with a watery texture and lively carbonation. Slight peppery notes. This was a promising kolsch that fell apart with vegetative, corn juice tastes in the finish. Too bad. CanIHave4Beers (4184) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - JUN 18, 2010
The color is strikingly pale with a nice enough head. The aroma is very faint but slightly doughy with some fleeting grassy hoppiness. There is a nice fruity maltiness to this beer with some pear and some corn with just a touch of bitterness. .
