Picked up a Tall Boy can while traveling in CT even though I was somewhat wary of the 11% ABV noted on the label of this Double IPA. As it turns out, my concern was quickly shown to be unwarranted. Poured the 16 oz. into a glass and failed to find any significant harshness or booziness in the body or taste - overall, a very well balanced higher alcohol IPA. My only regret is that I purchased only 1 can and its not distributed in my home state so future enjoyment depends on my next CT trip.

From the 650 ml. bottle. Heady orange-amber pour with lacing left behind. Murky. The aroma is spiced up more than the usual citrus and floral sensations I have experienced with DIPAs. I really enjoy that aroma that masks the booze of the 11% and features an under currant of toasted pale malts. Some black licorice on top of it all. The body is full and bold. OK! Here comes the booze in the taste. That is more predominant than I thought it might be after the spiced aroma. Also a spiced, bitter finish. Maybe some black pepper. Just dynamite

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2014 The aroma is citrus and earthy, vaguely boozy. Hop flavors really pop notes of grapefruit and citrus. Hugely bitter, lingers in the finish, delicious!

Pours a golden yellow with almost no head. Nose is boozy with a bit of citrus and pine. Mouthfeel is thin and there is too little carbonation. The alcohol is too apparent and diminishes the grapefruit and pine flavors. This one needs some work.

Thanks to jdurdz for sharing. Hazy orange with a white head. The aroma is a mix of pine and orange. The flavor has some piney notes as well as some biscuit malts. Tastes a bit old but still enjoyable. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Growler shared by wolf.... Bright orange in color, big head. Smell nice and hoppy! Lots of fruit and pine. Good balance. Taste is great as well. Tons of hop flavor.... fruity, pine notes, grass... but well balanced with out being over the top. I was really surprised to see this at 11 percent... I would of guess between 7 and 8. Really easy to drink. Overall: They really nailed the west coast DIPA style. Great brew! Thanks wolf!

cloudy golden yellow, as advertized, a real double IPA. The fragrant hops hide the alcohol. a truly dangerous combination.
