Bottle... Pours cloudy and dark brown with a small, creamy, off-white head. The aroma features hickory smoke and dark chocolate. Full-bodied and creamy with adequate carbonation. The flavor is a blend of charcoal, 85%-cacao chocolate, some acrid smokiness and gentle acidity. Tangy, smoky finish. 22 oz bottle at home. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, chocolate, earth from the base beer with nice additions of smoked wood, Cherrywood is noticeable, hints of meat, some ash, some fruity character, doesn’t come off as a bigger beer. 650 ml bottle courtesy of jmagnus87. Thanks. Pours a dense black color with minimal beige head that quickly morphs to a fine ring. The aroma is a bit subdued and understated with light smoke, dark fruits and chocolate malts. The taste mirrors the aroma, but the smoke which was light on the nose is not so light on the tongue: In this I get smoke, anise, raisins, sweetened mocha and burnt toast. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes medium in duration and dry. Overall: Top shelf smoked brew--this rocks. EricTeusink (700) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAR 28, 2014
One of the better smoked beers I have had. The common thread in all those beers is that the smoke’s presence was limited. Pours nearly black with tan head. Scent is smoke and malts. Flavor is similar to an excellent porter with a touch of smoke. Light heavy body and appropriately carbonated. Bottle - Received in Trade Sammy (12210) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 4, 2014
A good integration of a smoked and a porter. More smoke as it warms. More tasty and drinkable when it was cold. Overall decent smoked beer, decent chocolate and malt. FInishes a bit too sweet. Black with but a drop of lace.

Massive beer. Poured from draft at high five. Black. Licorice and raisin flavor. Super smokey and you can taste the booze but is still very good madvike (3264) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 23, 2013
Bottle - Dark mahogany pour with a ring of light tan head. Nose is chocolate, meaty woody smoke and a dry maltiness. Taste is creamy, lightly sweet dark bread malt. There’s a dry, woody smokiness with some dry meatiness. Finishes with dark chocolate and a pleasant smokey dryness. Thick, creamy with nice soft carbonation. Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose and taste of smoked cherry wood, peat, smoked chocolate malt, vanilla and smoked wood. Medium body. ReverendMoon (155) - Illinois, USA - NOV 9, 2013
Big smoke. No head. Bacon. Salted pork. I don’t always eat meat, but when I do, I prefer it in a smokey porter.
