Bottled @ Beer Temple. Dark color, short head. Aroma of loads of grinded coffee backed up with big roasted malt and chocolate, mocha. Not much licorice and laurel, which makes me happy, as I prefer the chocolate and roast based imperial stouts. Medium sweet, medium bitter, coffee makes it a bit more dry. Although it actually has quite a lot of coffee in the nose, maybe a bit too much, the base beer is able to carry that amount. So, the balance of the beer is very nice and the coffee adds depth to the base beer. Great stuff. Ed5388 (3488) - Forked River, New Jersey, USA - JUL 5, 2013
22oz bottle shared thanks to JohnGonk. Pours pitch black color with a finger of foamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, some dark fruits, and faint coffee notes. Taste of sweet caramel and roasted malts, vanilla, ash, and dark chocolate. Not bad, but too sweet for my liking. Maybe be better with more age. Bottle, big thanks to Adrian from BA for sharing! It pours darkest brown with a small light tan head. The nose is big on the coffee, roasted malt, cocoa, dark fruit, light acidity, salted caramel and vanilla. The taste is roasted malt, coffee, alcohol heat, touch of chilli, wood, some acidity and earth with a dry, roasty finish. Medium-full body, fine carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Perhaps a bit hot. Gets better the more you drink. Decent, but I couldn’t drink too much. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUL 2, 2013
