This bottled brew from a rating party poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark brown colored body and a fair lacing. . The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering mild roasted malt aftertaste. The strong flavor contained notes of mildly vinous roasted malt coffee brown malt and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again. In short: A basic big coffee stout. Just ok.TimE (6067) - Tokyo, JAPAN - APR 7, 2013
How: Bottle 22oz, post-HF FoFA 2013.
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head.
In long: The strong nose is intense used coffee filter along with some charcoal. In mouth the beer offers a thick heavy body that is carbonated enough. Taste is overcooked caramel, old cup of black coffee, mild vanilla notes. A bit of a boiled vegetables flavor developing from the high roast. A straightforward coffee stout which unfortunately didn’t offer a fun coffee character, too much like used coffee filter instead of nice roasted coffee beans. Decent beer but slightly below average for the style. And on a more linguistic note, I think Abduction is too strong of a word when talking about kidnapping of a young children, I prefer to call it Surprise Adoption.
Dark brown color with thin head. Smells like a ton of cold coffee with slight notes of roasted malt and caramel. Sweet, unbalanced mouth that is over ridden with coffee. Lingering coffee roasted finish. I wanted to like this, but very simplistic brew that went no where Marheb (5991) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 30, 2013
Bomber - black pour with a dark tan lace - nose is heavy on vanilla and coffee, but also carries notes of raisin, anise, chocolate, light smoke - actually smells quite nice - moderate carbonation - smoke, roast - sweet vanilla is pretty prominent, followed by strong, somewhat overly astringent and acidic coffee - chocolate, cherry skins - the finish is a bit too acidic/astringent - more good than bad.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black body with a small beige head. Aroma is coffee, dark berries, chocolate, hints of dark malts and charcoal. Taste is coffee, vanilla, hints of resin and dark sugars. Medium body and carbonation. OK, but lacks the little extra to be great. burg326 (5594) - Florida, USA - APR 30, 2013
Bottle shared at the Tampa Tasting, poured a dark black color with aromas of fresh pressed coffee, light roast, some light hops and some earth. Flavors are the same, mostly black coffee, light bitterness and roast in the aftertaste. Pretty amazed at this beer for such a high abv, didn’t taste like it, a great beer. jkwood04 (5463) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 10, 2013
22oz bottle in a snifter. Pours black with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of a lot of coffee, roasted and chocolate malts, a little vanilla, and hints of hops. Flavor the same, with a good amount of coffee that blends with the rest of the beer really well. Smooth to thick texture. A really good beer.
