Sample from batch #112 at Kurtkeller 004: Pipeworks-tastic 01 on 01/18/2014. Inky black pour with a medium khaki head that diminishes gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Coffee, roasted malt and dark chocolate in the nose. Full-bodied with flavors of roast coffee, semi-bitter chocolate and caramel. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Good beer all around. crossovert (12874) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 6, 2013
Belgian-pour produces a huge, creamy multi-hued tan head that slowly dissipates. The smell is nice, coffee, brownies, roasted malt. Mouthfeel is thick and viscous. Flavor is bittersweet through and through. Ashy coffee and malts, a bit of booze. I like the ashy astringency but the high sugary booze character blending with it can be too much at times. A solid beer htough. I think the cherry oak treatment of this beer was the best so far. Bov (12636) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JUN 25, 2013
from Erzbierschof - black beer under a persistent dark beige foam; correct lacework; very roasted maltiness with a strong aroma of coffee and ashes; hints of vanilla stay in the background; full-bodied and pretty thick; creamy palate, solidly bitter, fair notes of vanilla appear in the finish along with more coffee - robust and well-made thewolf (12590) - Kolding, DENMARK - DEC 21, 2014

pitch dark, smooth large brown head.
roasted malts, vanilal beans, coffee, chocolate, moderate hops in the aroma. Quite smooth and dessert-like.
Flavor is herbal, roasted malts, coffee, balanced with hops, but very delicately, palate is very smooth, a "plain" very tasty imp stout with some coffee notes. aftertaste is coffee, chocolate, sort of like an espresso chocolate with a bit of roasted malts and hops. madsberg (11770) - Søborg, DENMARK - APR 28, 2013
Bottled. Pitch black coloured. Dense light brown head. Aroma: Coffee, roast, herbs, chocolate. Flavour: Coffee, herbs, chocolate, roast, cocoa, light liqourice, sweetness and vague molasses. Medium to full bodied. Ends roasted bitter and full of coffee. deyholla (11597) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 19, 2013
Bottle. Pours black with a very dark brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma is mainly coffee and espresso with a bit of dark chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor starts with coffee but mellows to allow a nice dark roasted malt note to come out that is complimented by some dark chocolate.
