22oz bottle acquired from Binnys South Loop (Chicago, IL). Pours a haze blush hue, a bit of cranberry, hazy dulled hue with a lively full whitish head atop that dissipates to a full ringer, decent lacing overall. Aromas show a bit of stink, funk and lactic twang, bready malts, straw, subtle yogurt, funk, almost a sulfur appeal. Letting it breathe a bit more shows some decent lactic tang and dry, grainy appeal. Initial is lighter bodied, decent lactic edge strikes up front. Some subtke bitter tart cranberry essence meets a bit of lemon, earthy and bready malts, dry straw, yogurt touch. Cleaner, lighter, dry overall. A bit lacking on sourness and lively appeal or fruit depth, this one remains pretty drinkable stuff really. A bit dry, a touch underdone, the base Berliner is dry, fuzzy, a bit mellow on the sourness. Tart cranberry, dry and a bit tannic. Mellow pour, dry almost funky nose, solid flavors and flow. Not quite up to par with the tea Berliner but solid enough.

650ml bottle. Hazed light red/pink pour. Drinking this cause i accidentally dinked the cap while moving it and it didn’t open but some beer started spewing, of which i disposed over the drain and decided to throw it in the feeezer and consume it. This is the funkiest smelling new pw berliner. It has a waxy aroma of cranberry and a very funky creamy (almost pukey) wheat/cranberry combo. It also smells like pepsi blue, remember that? Flavor is interesting. It is very dry, tartness comes form a distinct berry character and some sour lacto, but this is vinous beer. It tastes almost like sparkling wine (or the champagne fo the north). It gives off a flavor I taste in colt 45 HG which is odd as hell I can only describe it as vinous and winey and dry. It is good but reminds me of stomach acid. Cranberry in a berliner is a cruel yet satisfying combo.
