Bomber from batch 12, bottled 8 months ago. Pours an opaque black with tiny disappearing mocha head and no lacing. Aroma has milk chocolate, roasted malts, raisins, molasses, cinammon and chili peppers (in the order I noticed them). Taste is initially sweet but the spices soon kick in and dominate the long finish. Body is medium to full with less carbonation than I first thought it had. Mouthfeel is sticky. The alcohol heat would be even more noticeable if it weren’t for the distraction of the spices. A very good, somewhat bizzarre offering I’m glad to have tried after the predicted end of the world. It’s musical equivalent is Sun Ra and his Intergalactic Research Arkestra’s "It’s after the end of the world - don’t you know that yet?" from Germany c. 1970. - Strong, black, sometimes brutal, pushing the envelope on an old tradition and definitely not for everyone. brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - JAN 7, 2013
Black in color with a khaki head. Interesting aroma to this as there is a very strong spice character. Notes of cinnamon, chili powder, and nutmeg, roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Mild sweetness of vanilla, molasses, and toffee. Roasted malt flavor, chocolate, cinnamon, chili powder, and coffee. Another Xmas gift 22oz. Had the original batch awhile back but definitely an upgrade here. Aroma of cinnamon and a touch of chiles. Pours a dense black with brown edges.
The nose has notes of chocolate, roasted malt, cinnamon and some chili.
This beer is like a mullet, all the party’s in the back. Up front it is a pretty straight forward milk stout with hints of chocolate and roasted malt but the finish has a great hit of chili, cinnamon and other spices that really balance out the sweetness.
It has a full mouthfeel with a slightly sticky/chewy mouth feel.
I’m glad the world didn’t end so I can keep drinking this one!

I’m a sucker for spicy beers and this one is an excellent example of this catagory. Very picante and with chocolate, coffee, chipotle. Tasty.

Batch 62. Head dissipated quickly. Chocolate, pepper, and cinnamon, on the nose. Quite aromatic. Medium bodied. Robust chocolate up front and ancho chili all the way down. Some coffee. Bottle (Batch #62). Pours an opaque dark brownish-black with a thin mocha head that dissipated very quickly (although it might be my glass). Nose is spicy, roasted malt and some cocoa. Mouth is mildly sweet, with the anchos definitely up front (mild chile heat), and then some coffee and malt (didn’t detect any vanilla, but I did get a little chocolate in there). Overall very similar mouth to the Pastrami on Rye (which came out a few weeks ago) only not as varied on the spices, so I didn’t feel like I was drinking a stout mixed with corned beef water. This one has gotten a lot of good press and I finally got around to trying it (chiles in my beer have always been somewhat off-putting for me). I rated this one as a sum of it’s parts, but overall this one wasn’t really my favorite P-Dub offering. Treebs (872) - , Illinois, USA - DEC 11, 2012

A: Pours a dark black color with a khaki head forming on the pour. It recedes quickly to a thin collar.
S: Cinnamon and chilies up front. Mild chocolate fudge with some roast to it.
T: Fudgey and chocolaty with a great cinnamon spice to it. The chilies aren’t at all vegetal and give a great warming spice in the periphery. The finish is sweet with a hint of vanilla and lingering spice in the throat. Very tasty.
M: Medium to heavy bodied with a low carbonation level. Creamy mouthfeel with a spicy and sweet mouthfeel.
O: This is the best batch yet. Absolutely delicious. Leaps and bounds better than the regular. Great mouthfeel, full bodied and great underlying spice.

Dark chocolate, light coffee, fairly roasty, dark fruity, just a touch spicy aroma. The chilis mostly kick in near the end after you get all of the roasty chocolate, plum/raisin goodness. Pour from bottle at Zwanze Day 2012 at the Barrel Cellar. Pour courtesy of Armin, thanks Man!! Appearance is pitch black with a small brown head and decent lacing. Chocolate milk, lacto, a touch of spice, dark fruits, cinnamon, and raisins in the aroma. Taste is dark fruits, raisins, and prunes but much more roasty than the aroma with notes of black licorice, spice, and peppers ending lightly spicy. Sticky mouthfeel with medium-to-high carbonation. Not bad.
