Black in color with a khaki head. Interesting aroma to this as there is a very strong spice character. Notes of cinnamon, chili powder, and nutmeg, roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Mild sweetness of vanilla, molasses, and toffee. Roasted malt flavor, chocolate, cinnamon, chili powder, and coffee. Slight vanilla note, molasses, and toffee. Bottle shared by beerpig317. Poured black color with medium brown frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium to heavy roasted chocolate malt, cinnanon and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration to long duration. My expectations where exceeded with a very good stout.

Bottle shared at Nieuwjaarsborrel thanks to Mrhangover. Pours dark brown with a minimal tan head. Aroma of alcohol, chocolate, fudge, caramel and cinnamon. Flavour is heavy sweet. Really boozy feeling with the chillis coming out in the palate and leaving a warming finish. Medium to full bodied with light carbonation. Dogbrick (13018) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 22, 2013
Bottle from batch #29 shared by a friend. Brownish-black pour with a medium thin tan head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, malt and a bit of spice. Medium-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, raisins and subtle chili peppers. The finish is malty with a mild peppery aftertaste. Pretty good all around. crossovert (12934) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 31, 2012
UPDATED: NOV 26, 2013 Thin dark brown pour. Fizzy quickly dissipating head.
Smell has a more butterscotchy component than the other. There is a ncie cinnamon hit. A bit of sugar.
This really doesn’t seem like a stout to me. It is like a sweet brown ale. Prickly carbonation. Some spice in the flavor. Anchos add a bit of flavor with dark fruits, the cinammon is spicy in the back of the throat, but very mildly so.
I don’t like it as much as the original, there is possibly an off lfavor im tasting, or its jsut too sweet, i dk. The wax is a bit of an afterthought, I don’t think this will improve with age.
Had thsi again on draft recently, loved it. Sammy (12210) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 22, 2014
Lactose, not overdone, and cinnamon. Not too stouty an ale. Decent drinkability.Liam’s bottle. j12601 (12000) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - NOV 15, 2012
Bottle. Pours a deep dark black with a large dense mocha head. Roast on the nose, chocolate, cocoa. On the thin side of medium, body a little lacking what I would have expected given the pour and the 8% ABV, but still solid enough. Spicy chile comes through right away, gorgeous. The heat is noticeable but never invasive or distracting, remarkably well balanced. Cocoa, a good amount of roast. The combination of chocolate and chili is great. A little lingering heat and chocolate on the finish. Very well done.
