Pours dark brown with quickly dissipating brown lacing. Aroma is coffee, burnt chocolate. Very nice beer! arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - APR 2, 2015
Pour out of 22 oz bottle, thick black pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of cocoa, roast, lactose into a bit of molasses, some slight chocolate notes come through as well into a bit of spice. Taste was a nice mix of cocoa, milk sugars, and caramel into some roasted malts, coffee into a bit of earthy spice, finishing sweet. ryanfolty (2604) - Bourbon County, Minnesota, USA - DEC 22, 2014
December 22, 2014 - bottle from Binnys a couple years ago. Says batch 62 and I think this is from 2012. Black pour with huge tannish head that almost foamed over the top of the glass a couple times. The head didn’t last long though and didn’t leave much lacing. The aroma was chocolate, roasted malt, some spice (including cinnamon) and sugar/lactose. Taste was consistent with aroma with some vanilla, but nicely balanced with the sweetness, roast and spice. The combo of flavors also gave off a woody flavor in the finish that worked well. Maybe a bit too much carbonation, but nice amount of thickness in the body. Glad I waited on this a bit, age seems to have done this well. Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy milk chocolate, light-moderate cinnamon/spice, vanilla, and a touch of pepper heat. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a large fizzy brown head that quickly fades to a minimal film outlined by a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate milk chocolate, vanilla, and molasses. The finish has light vanilla, cinnamon, and faint pepper heat. I think the prickly carbonation lessens the peppers. It’s medium bodied with lively/prickly carbonation. Overall, it’s pretty tasty, but the heavy carbonation is distracting.
Bottle: Batch 62. Slow, slow gusher. Super dark brown body with a big, chunky tan head that settles quickly given the initial size. Aroma is a rich combo of slightly dark chocolate & smooth cinnamon sticks. Light undertones of roast, chili pepper spice, faint vanilla, prune, & some mild molasses. Little over carbonated, kind of thin & even spritzy or effervescent. A lofty stout? Wut? Flavor is heavier on the chilies with a nice spice that lingers. Notes of bittersweet cacao, mild cinnamon, vanilla, & roasted malt are also present, but the chilies are left resonating in the finish, maybe with a hint of bitter chocolate. Pretty nice aroma & flavor but the excessive carbonation & billowy mouth feel hurts the score. chinchill (5311) - South Carolina, USA - OCT 6, 2014
This cacao milk stout provides strong coffee and cacao in the nose.
Expresso and bitter chocolate on the tongue.
A touch too sweet.
