bottle shared by a man person. pours reddish gold with white head. nose is very piney and grapefruity. flavor has the right balance of caramel sweetness and piney and grapefruity hop character. really reminds me of bigfoot but perhaps this has a bigger hop character and the malts dont get that plasticy. it’s clean and defines the american barleywine style very well. i’m not a big fan of the style anymore but I still know this one is done right. I’m still shocked people complained that this beer was too hoppy for the style.

650ml bottle @ the office. Pours a cloudy dark amber brown colour with a small white head. Nose is wow, malty resinous hops with some hints of fruits. Flavour is an up front punch of resinous hops that fades to a mix of caramel and sweet dark fruits that finishes only moderately bitter.

Bottle - Sweet and caramel with a touch of herbal notes. Clearish copper with a small white head. Cardboard, some herbal notes. Not bad.

Hazy light amber colour. There isn't much head. On the nose, it's about what you'd expect from an imperial red, earthy, chewy...the usual stuff. On the palate, it's chewy, it's got some minty hop notes, blackberries...there's actually some nice complexity in there. Just a touch of alcohol, nice balanced character. I like it.

22 oz. bottle, pours a dark amber orange with a small white head. Aroma is hop-forward, with resinous hops, caramel and red fruits. Flavour is similar, with lots of resinous hops, caramel malts, and dark fruits. Nicely balanced between resinous hops and caramel malts. Very good.

650ml bottle at Brian's office. Pours a hazy amber with tan head. Aroma is sweet candied oranges. Similar taste. Not bad.

Rich brown coloured body with a deep, caramel and ruby tint, very nice, all with a large, four centimetre tall tan head that fades slowly. Aroma of alcohol, toffee, earth, pit fruits, caramel, bright grassy hops, raisins and a good dose of specialty grains - very nice and incredibly aromatic. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong dense and rich flavours of malt, toffee, alcohol, grain, cognac, dry oak, vanilla and some dense peat. Very full flavoured with some good alcohol warmth while showing a lot of sweetness from toffee, caramel and some pitted fruits, all with a definite bitterness, a little dryness and a lot of complexity near the finish with the yeast and pit fruits the strongest flavours. Overall, a nice barley wine and I think the time spent in the bottle was well worth it, I almost wish I aged this 2+ years, but one was nice. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in New York (Columbus Circle), New York on 19-December-2015 for US$10,99 sampled at home in Washington on 17-February-2017. UPDATED: NOV 5, 2017 Bottled. Pours deep amber with a small beige head. Aroma of toffee, toasted caramel, ripe orange and berries and also pine. Sweet flavor that ends up being more dry and pleasant bitter. Medium bodied, oily to syrupy texture and soft to average carbonation. An excellent hoppy Barley. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Bottle from trade [thanks to whoever send me this!!] @ home. A bit hazy amber to dark amber red color, full sized off-white to beige head that lasts for a long time. Aroma is malts, hops, sticky hops. Taste malts, hops, sticky dank hops, resinous hops, hop bitter, bitter. Sticky texture, medium to full body, suitable decent to medium carbonation. Very nice American style hoppy barley wine. Love this stuff!

Bottle. The pour is a deep red. The aroma is heavy barley malt. They nailed the style here. A perfect american barleywine. Big malt and good blend of hops.
