This strong amber beer was first brewed in 1982 at the request of Van Steenberge’s Italian importer. Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

Zakupene v lidly. Pekna zlatista farba. Vona sice nevyrazna no chut to krasne kompenzuje. Prijemna husta chut s dlhou koncovkou.

This is a Balgian Ale very much to my liking, strong, rich in flavor, complex, malty, sour, hoppy notes all at the same time, has a slightly alcoholic aftertaste.

Yeast. Bubblegum. Cloves. Dark fruit. Murky orange/brown Amber with an off white sudsy head that fades down to a thin layer on the surface and leaves a small coating on the glass. Clove. Dough. A hint of brandy. Velvety mouthfeel. A little spicy edge. Slight bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Copenhagen 13/8-2017. 33 cl bottle from Den Gamle Købmand. Little chubby bottle with Pirate Ship on the label. Pours hazy orange with quite big white head. Settles a 3 cm thick layer of foam. Massive lacing. Aroma is sourish and sharp with fruity and dusty notes. I get a clear feel of the high ABV with strong boozy notes. Strong carbonation and thick oily palate. Flavor is medium sweet followed by strong sour bitterness. Aftertaste is sour and very boozy with the alcohol coming through. If you like your beer sweet, very strong and with an sour unforgiving touch - go for a Piraat.

Pours a huge foamy head and has a hazy orange, golden amber appearance. Thick patchy lacing. Earthy and resin hop aromas as well as sweet malts. Flavours of oranges, spices, dark type fruits, herbal hops and some light grassy notes and a little bit yeasty. Has a drying mouthfeel and a slight astringent sensation. Pretty easy going for an above 10%abv brew.
