This strong amber beer was first brewed in 1982 at the request of Van Steenberges Italian importer. Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

Aroma: lightly sweet and spicy; Appearance: very hazy amber pour with fluffy white head that sticks around; Taste: much more distinctive than aroma; very sweet to start, lots of spice in the middle, with malty finish; Palate: medium body with long, sweet finish; Overall: a little too sweet for me, but interesting. Would drink again if available.

Stevig bier. Aangename smaak, soms iets te bitter. Goede nasmaak, je proeft de alcohol. Fruitsmaak ook merkbaar

It pours a golden body with plenty of carbonation, a big white head that left heavy lace. Aroma of alcohol was most prevelant with hints of sweet fruits. Flavor was similar with the alcohol dominating the initial and middle flavor with fruit hints finally showing up in the aftertaste. An o.k brew but the alcohol was too overwhelming to rate it higher.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Alcohol covers all other aromas. Bread, herbs, alcohol. Amber, clear body, minimal, white head. Lightly sweet and sour with medium bitterness and some saltyness. Full bodied, oily. Lively carbonation with long finish.

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2016 Bottle. Pours clear golden with lazing white head. Aroma is sweet and has lightmalts with biscuit and caramel yet fruity with ripe apricot and caramel. Taste is light malty with biscuit and bread, yet fruity with winegum-like notes and has a semi-sweet balanced bitterness which makes it easy to drink.
