This strong amber beer was first brewed in 1982 at the request of Van Steenberge’s Italian importer. Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

Prescindible.

Bottle from Lidl. Fine beer. Pours pale yellow colour with little white head. Rich sweety aroma, fruits, spices. Sweet taste, malty, citruses, rather strong alcohol finish.

A bottle from Muzha Jason’s, drunk at home. Aroma: Christmas cake, prunes, sherry. Appearance: clear dark amber, minimal head. Palate: full-bodied and slick, soft carbonation, long and complex finish with pepper from the alcohol. Taste: strongly sweet and bitter, well-balanced. A good belt from the booze, some vanilla at the finish. Great beer.

Top notch belgian beer, slightly cloudy, with a yeasty haze. Didn’t think it was 10.5% when tasting. Very enjoyable. Spicey/herbal aroma. Sweetness, spiciness in taste.

A very good Belgian strong ale. Beer has a malty, spicy hops character. There is a definite alcohol taste throughout the mouthful, but if you drink your beercolder than recommended temps (like 40f or colder), the alcohol taste actually goes away. When drank cold, it is hard to tell the strength of this beer.

From old tasting notes. Cloudy honey gold color.mcreamy white head. Winey malt nose. Sweet fruity malt flavor is very high in alcohol. Long, chewy malt finish and aftertaste.

This one is no nonsense. Fairly rich foam, mild caramel aroma with a hint of tropical fruit, you can literally taste all these 10,5%, very strong and in my experience unique taste. Aye, it’ll f**k you up for a good hour or so, two options after drinking: 1) Actively listen to Alestorm, 2) Take a nap, because drinking this is equals to betrayal to and by your own body.

wiedrzensky (914) - SLOVAK REPUBLIC - JUN 4, 2017
Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with big stable foamy off-white head. Aroma of malts, bread, toasty, grass, straw, floral and herbal. Taste is light sweet, light bitter with touch of acidic notes, floral and herbal mouthfeel. Heavy body, slick texture, soft carbonation.
