This strong amber beer was first brewed in 1982 at the request of Van Steenberges Italian importer. Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

A: Poured with an average-sized head that is white and bubbly. Body is a dark orange, and extremely clear with just the slightest evidence of haze. S: Lots of yeast and bread coming through here. The aroma also has a fruitiness to it that is quite pleasant. T: Sweet, fruity, and yeast, with a very slight twinge of bitterness in there as well. The finish is dry, with a slight alcohol warmth as well. M: Medium-bodied, creamy, with average carbonation. D: A very good beer, but I dont know if I would have recognized it as a Belgian IPA; mind you, Ive never had this style before, and I would expect their IPAs to be less in-your-face then many in North America.

bottle. Poured murky orange with a creamy off-white head. Sour-citrus aroma with a yeasty note. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation, slight astringent finish. Fruity malt flavour, citrus and yeast, peppery spice with a boozy feel.

First beer of New Years Eve. Bargain from Lidl. Beautiful taste which belies the strength. Fizzes on the tongue.

Rustic orange color with a short-lived whispy white head. Aromas and flavors open up lovely with florals and fruits. Bread dough, yeast, coriander, orange blossom honey, syrupy malt, and clove. Pleasant warning finish.

Bottled. In aroma at first the fruity and floral notes appear and later, with warming, the overwhelming alcohol, but thats not unpleasant at all. In taste it has the same notes that appear at the same order with some additional bitterness in finish, but with warming this disappears. It leaves sweet mouthfeel, has soft carbonation and heavy body, but despite of that is easily drinkable. Pleasant beer.

Bottle - golden yellow with a large foamy head. An aroma of yeast and dried fruit and a taste of yeast and caramel. Balanced and boozy.

Barwa jasna, herbaciana. Piana drobna, gęsta. Aromat wyraźny, dosyć mocny. W smaku przyjemne, alkohol nie jest jakoś bardzo wyczuwalny.
