Pivo is Bulgarian for beer, and Pirinsko Pivo is a classic Bulgarian pilsner beer. Since 1971, it has been made with spring water from the nearby Pirin Mountain that not only provides the pure taste but also lends its name to the beer.

bilcho1 (236) - Ruse, BULGARIA - FEB 8, 2018
500ml can from the shop, drunk at home. Pours clear with a middleweight foamy head that settled quickly, medium lacing and a short-lived bead. Mid straw in colour. Aroma of hay and grass with a slight fruitiness. Quite fizzy at first in the mouth releasing some mild bready malt flavours along with hints of fruit and herbs, some sweetness and a medium bitter finish. Not watery. Overall, far from the worst of the Bulgarian macros, but nothing special.

One of the cheapest bulgarian lagers - 0.50 euro for 500ml ken. Still it is better than a lot of other commercial mass produced lagers. The finish is a little bit bitter but this beer is perfect with food.

Bottle from a local Fantastico store in Varna, Bulgaria. Shared with lovely Anja and Our K&K Igor. Faint grainy, very light sweetness. Light body, high carbonation, abrupt finish. Below average.

One huge thanks Pasca for this beer that you had taken from your Country, coming back from Holiday. We drank this can with my wife, on the last monday. In my opinion, it is a lager that you could find everywhere in the East countries, like the mushrooms during the autumn. This Monday was particulary hot and it is a true that this lager was welcomed. There is a typical taste of these countries, bitter, a bit metalic, malt, a bit watery, well balanced, industrial but it makes the Job to be happy like Homer Simpson.

Slight aroma of malts, grain and hops.

Clear pale yellow beer with a slight/medium white head.

Slightly/medium sweet and slightly dry with malts, grain and hops.

This beer is rather intense and balanced, but lacks complexity. Just a decent pilsner that feels very refreshing but lacks any real flavours. Decent beer, just not craft.

Bottle at that horrible traditional bulgarian restaurant in Sofia - now white a green bottle and different design, 4.4% abv - taste is cardboard, grass, watery body. refreshing though and no bad off tastes.

Z daleka nejlepší bulharské pivo, které jsem ochutnal (pouze průmyslové pivovary). V plechovce mi ho kamarád dovezl přímo z Bulharska - dokážu si představit, že čepované u moře by bylo ještě lepší!
