Cask at Beer Study. Brownish, no haze, amber with a small ring of off white lace. Nose shows some roast and malt upfront; notes of coffee, hazelnut. Similar flavor with a much lighter body than expected. NachlamSie (3597) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 6, 2012
Pint at City Billiards. Pours a cloudy amber/brown. The aroma is mild and malty with notes of earth, berries, apples and caramel. This is medium bodied. Inoffensive and drinkable, this has some leafy hops, fruity hints and a bittersweet, almost earthy finish. Hard to pinpoint as a brown ale, with it’s lack of "toasty" qualities. Sampled from a growler. This is full of your requisite nutty character and caramel malt flavors. Aromas of crystal sugar and a bit of toasted wheat grain. Caramel sweetness in the flavor. Very nice example of an underappreciated style.
