750 ml bottle. Dark pour. Some dark chocolate but then a lot of fruit and yeast. Raspberry of sorts. Interesting. alexsdad06 (10817) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - APR 28, 2014
Bottle picked up in Asheville (from notes). Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, some coffee, the Belgian yeast brings a fruity character, more dark fruit with some nice chocolate throughout. Smooth with mild bitterness to the finish. Good label, bomber. Very dark almost opaque, not much head. Plasticky aroma with molasses and roast. Tangy, medium sweet fruitiness and also some non-descript veggie tones. Slightly heavy body. Tangy finish. Warming. This lost back-to-back with Vortex II, as it tasted a bit unfinished - maybe it was just palate shock. I need to revisit one day. Bottle, bottled May 2013. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and some alcohol. Flavor of dark fruit, dates, fig. Medium body with a warming alcohol sensation. BuckeyeBoy (8476) - Boise, Idaho, USA - NOV 20, 2013
Bottle thanks to Matt. Pours out a dark brown topped with a tan head. Nose is roast malts chocolate and pit fruit. Taste is as the nose with lots of roast malts some sweetness a little wood and the pit fruit.

22 ounce bottle. Poured a darker brown with a beige head of foam. The aroma has some sweeter rum notes with brown sugar and and a thick sweetness. Pretty good. RolkaNation (141) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JUL 19, 2013
Bottle poured into imperial pint. Murky black color, nearly opaque. A deep tan head formed upon pouring but nearly instantly vanished leaving no head remnants at all. Aroma is of dark roasty malt, chocolate, leather, and strong alcohol. Flavor is just wonderful. More roasted malt, hints of chocolate and coffee, and a touch of Belgian spice flank the big boozey rum and oak flavors from the barrel aging. This is a very unique, balanced, and STRONG tasting brew. Incredibly warming, this may be the most liquor flavor I’ve ever experienced in a barrel aged beer. Bottle. The Belgian yeast seems to bring a fruity taste to this porter and of course the rum barrels where the brew aged gives this a great complex taste almost akin to a sour. Great stuff.

This poured a black color with a beige head. The aroma contains some chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, and spices. The flavor is sweet but not overly so with some chocolate, caramel, and grapes. A slightly sour aftertaste. Overall a nice and different beer.
