22 oz. bottle. Dark brown, with ruby notes. Medium, beige head. Big syrupy and caramel aroma, with some earthy hops and some vanilla, smoky notes of scotch. Very sweet flavor up front, with some significant bitterness through the finish. Medium to heavy body, silky and acidic feel, with a little carbonation coming through in the finish. This is a very strong, scotch-esque beer, with an abrasive, yet remarkably delicious flavor. Recommended.
Draft at the brewery taproom during RBWG 2014. Pours reddish brown with a foamy topping. Good, but certainly punchy with notable alcohol character. Notes of toffee, ripe fruits, a little earth. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with some brown bread, toffee, caramel, ripe berries. Not bad, but heavy. tmongoose (2504) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - AUG 20, 2015
Bomber shared poured a medium brown with smallish tan head. The initial aroma is brown sugar, black pepper, dark fruits, and booze lots of booze. The flavor holds true and then some. This goes from the sweet dark fruits to the brown sugar to the black pepper to the alcohol burn. The pepper is not a deterrent either blends very well. Overall this is a very nice barley wine. This bottle is dated 11/26/2013. Travlr (25749) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 31, 2014
Draft at the source during RBWG. This one is big, boozy spiced butterscotch. Very tasty. jackl (8286) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 26, 2014
Keg @ Pisgah during RBWG, Asheville. Amber pour with a small head. Quite peppery. Singed hops. Strong toffee and caramel accents. Similar flavor. Sort of hot and boozy. More pepper and cinnamon. Moderately bitter to balance the thick, chewy malty sweetness. Full body, oily. Decent. Prufrockstar (2132) - Moscow, Idaho, USA - JUN 12, 2014

Bottle thanks to Chris!   Nice English style Barley Wine, caramel, toffee, musty, with some Olde Ale notes with dark pitted fruit.   Smooth, low hops, sweet bready maltiness.   Great stuff.   My kind of Barley Wine! zoucrew102 (2046) - - APR 26, 2014
Bomber, thanks to sevenhokie. Rich caramel malt and dark fruit aroma with brown sugar and some hops. Pours dark ruby red with one finger of white head with good retention and lacing. Nice caramel malt and dark fruit flavors with subtle brown sugar sweetness. Finishes quite smooth with a hint of hop bitterness and just a touch of booze. Nice barleywine. >> Pours a clear red/ruby with beige foam. Nose is sweet cherry liquor, white alcohol, Twizzlers. Taste is anesthetic, medicinal, Twizzler. Sticky sweet, not my style.
On tap at Pisgah during RBWG. Very sweet taste up front... Maybe the sweetest beer I’ve had all day. Clear dark red color. Thin khaki head. Some ropes and dots of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, lightly creamy carbonation. Light bite to the taste. Lightly slick. Some tropical, red fruit, spicy malts. Alright scotch / winter / whatever type of ale this is. jcnielsen (3416) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - FEB 10, 2014
