C-Bus 8 - Bottle shared by nolankowal: Pours black with a creamy tan head. Aroma roasted malts and chocolate. Flavor, roasty, chocolate, earthy with some coffee like bitterness on the end. Solid.

Bottle from JMichael, thanks John. Pours out a really dark black color with a big brown head that slowly dissipates. Smell is huge roasted malts and coffee with chocolate and perhaps some bananas (not the off tasting kind). Really the smell of this beer reminds me of Bezerker. Taste is full bodied, very rich, creamy, thick, full of roasted malts and some nice sweet tastes too. There is some alcohol noted, but its not unpleasant. Thanks for the opportunity to try this rare beer from my home state.

Lots of cocoa, coffee and malt complexity. A very palatable RIS for how big it is. Nice, very nice.

Thanx JMichael. Wow this pours a rich black color with no light coming thru this. Huge coffe flavor with a some chocolate on the backend. Aroma is roasted coffee. The alcohol was hidden well with a small coffee bitterness at the end.

22oz bottle. Pours dark black with a big, foamy brown head. Aroma is A LOT of coffee, complicated with some roastiness and chocolate underneath. Really delicious smell. The coffee is very powerful and deep in a beautiful way, more than almost any other Imperial Stout I can think of. Taste is rich, thick, bitter chocolate. The alcohol is not noticeable at all. Wow. I was super impressed with this beer. A really perfect example of the style and everything I would want in this type of beer. One of the best Imperial Stouts Ive ever had. Underrated!

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2007 22 oz bottle (thanks Jmichael!). Bottle was leaking when i recieved it via trade...Pours black with roasted grains nose. Taste starts sweet then some chocolate, some nuttiness and some alcohol in the finish. A little licorice in the aftertaste. medium body, average carbonation. The alc heat detracts a bit from my enjoyment factor on this one...******9/2/2007 rerate-orig rating was 8/4/8/3/15....ok BIG thanks to Jmichael for sending a second bottle. And oh what a difference an unopened bottle males, lol! THis one is much smoother, fresher, and not nearly as hot. There even seems to be some subtle woodiness to it...I am certain it is from a different batch.... I also detect some berry flavors in this one. Very nice and smooth..would never guess it was over 11% abv....

Courtesy of Dragonstout/Jayg. The aroma is dark chocolate with gobs of roasted malt, coffee and a whiff of what your finger smells like after a good butt scratch. Needless to say that musky sweet, earthy aroma was a little off-outting and no I did not scratch my ass prior to drinking. The body is ruby tinted black and holds is mostly headless with just a faint tan wisp of covering. The fore is bakers chocolate, burnt/roasted malts and grains, hot alcohol, milk chocolate and a mild hint of smoke.

This bottle was courtesy Dragonstout. jayg brought some to, so thanks to you both! Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Smells of dark milk chocolate, dark malts, some roast, and very mild hops. The taste is quite sharp, the alcochol really makes its presence known at this stage. Big roast and chocolate really make up most of the flavor, some bitterness makes its way to the forefront in the finish. This brew kind of hit me hard. Very good indeed.

Bottlefrom Shaun at Pauls house.NIce, creamy, imperial here. Usual chocolate, coffee, and vanilla flavors. Also some blackberries. A nice offering from Pisgah that I would like to obtain more bottles of for aging purposes. Hides the alcohol relatively well.
