Bouteille 500ml. Couleur noire opaque, mousse moka riche laissant une belle dentelle. Carbonation moyenne-faible, corps moyen-dense.

500ml bottle (thx, Alex G.!). Vintage 2017. Pours a very dark brown with a dark beige head. Aroma is whiskey notes, fruitiness, some chocolate. Taste is whiskey notes, but it has moderate inappropriate sourness. Spoiled? :-(

Bottle shared by my buddy Jean-Yves. P’tit caribou Tennessee 9% (2016 vintage has a new ABV I guess)

Deep dark brown with a chocolate, roasted oats aroma. The taste is tangy black cherries, chocolate and roasts. It is good but has us wondering if it was meant to be a sour.

This one says barrel aged in Tennessee whiskey. ooh! Poured a very thick large bubbly mocha coloured head. Has an extremely dark appearance, almost pitch black. Leaves thick patchy lacing. Aromas of breads and toasty malts, somewhat sweet with toffee and caramel, and herbal hops. Flavours are quite strong and bitter. Some dark roasted malt flavours, nuts, coffee, chocolate, spices, notes of resin hops and a bit of barley. Faint taste of whiskey that lingers, and at 50ibu, seems more bitter. Also, the alcohol is pretty apparent but not too offensive. Some very subtle hints of mocha and caramel. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel, actually quite smooth and slightly warming on the palate. Very good strong beer, at 10%abv.

On tap at Pit Caribou Montreal. Pitch black with a nice thick tan fosm that melt at the same rste thatI drink it. Smell oak smd bourbon, dark sugar. The notes of vinagar is a bit too present for the style. It's killed the bourbon that csn re-appear later. Medium body, average carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Good ageing flavour, a tasty imperial porter. Big bubbly mocha head, and lace. Grows on me, candi and roast, and good bourbon.

500ml bottle from Dépanneur La Duchesse d’Aiguillon in Quebec City, Quebec. Black in colour with a long lasting beige head, excellent retention, excellent lacing. The aroma is of chocolate, espresso, oak, roasty. The flavour is oaky, chocolate, some roast, light alcohol. Sweet mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, sweet, oaky. A nice barrel aged porter. Not as thinned out as other barrel aged beers.

(500ml 2014 bottle from the lovely phyllomedusa) Pours black with a small dense whitish head and lace. Aroma of chocolate coloured coffee beans, vanilla, cold coffee, light caramel, some whiskey and light char. Flavour is lightly sweet coffee and dark chocolate, vanilla, toasted wood, leather, moderate roast. Finish is moderately bitter with roast, oak and coffee. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, no alcohol. The nose on this is a real standout, while the palate backs it up even though it’s a bit light in the mouth for 10%. A very pleasant surprise from Pit-Caribou.
