Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival, day 2, on 1 May 2009. Black and oily. Quite sharp, maybe even sour. But with lots of syrupy sweetness too. Not very drinkable. Not sure this was quite right. Intriguing nonetheless. Extra marks for bravado.

Cask Conditioned gravity dispense Swan & Rushes Leicester. A very dark, almost black beer with no head. Like a stronger, boozier, fruitier, roastier version of the Penelope which I had just had. And that’s a good thing. Again showing signs of age. Thick and oily, Strong and tasty. SaintMatty (7443) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - JUN 9, 2010
Cask (Southampton Beer Festival 2010) - Black in colour. Roasted malt and coffee aroma. Rich taste with roasted malt, dried fruit and plain chocolate. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2010
Cask Stillage at the Metropolitan Cathedral Crypt, Liverpool 20/02/2010
Fruit and hop aromas. Black strong in alcohol fruity and hoppy with a little dryness in a crisp and bitter roast finish. Fin (10737) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 3, 2010
Cask, gravity at The Royal Oak, Wantage, Oxon 03-01-10 Pours pitch black, no light will penetrate this particular beer, there is a tan head atop. Nicely roasty but also with a definate citric edge to it and some dark chocolate creates its own cocoa type bitterness. The alcohol is well hidden and its a decent effort. A6 A4 F6 P4 Ov12 3.2

Cask gravity at Reading BF 09. Maybe I wasn’t in an impy stout mood on this dday, but again I thought that this was very tarry, very challenging and sweetish. Settles down into an intense choc impy stout. Bit better than the Bitumen. Interesting and cerainly not lacking for flavour.
