Best beer ever made by Pittsburgh Brewing Co.--even better than the old IC Golden Lager--Augustiner is definetly one of the best beers ever made, and I've been around and drank a lot. DEbeer (192) - West Virginia, USA - MAY 2, 2002
It isn’t bad. There is kind of a grape juice undertone that you only notice if you pay attention. It may be a little too thin, but other than that, it is pretty good. Fech (291) - Parsippany, New Jersey, USA - APR 10, 2012
Clear amber color, thin head, malty with low carbonation. On tap in a couple joints in station square in pitt. tommybuckeye (2) - Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, USA - AUG 8, 2008 does not count
Had this on tap at a Primanti Bros in Pittsburgh (awesome place)!
AR: Sweet corn, caramel and malt
APP: Head was very light brown / white and went quickly. Beer was a clear amber.
FLAV: Malty, caramel with a light sour finish.
PAL: Light thin body with little carbonation
OVRL: I like the original IC better, but this was good beer that I would have again. A good neighborhood drinking beer that goes well with food. BrewDad (5328) - Olympia, Washington, USA - APR 1, 2009

Aroma: Light lager aroma with a good malt backing.
Appearance: Light Amber in color, clear with a thin head.
Flavor: Light lager flavoring the hops and alt where balanced very well.
Palate: Dry finish, with a decent Mouthfeel.
Overall: A very nice easy drinking beer. Perfect for those hot days mowing the lawn.
My friend bought this by mistake, thinking it was the dark Augustiner. Still quite good. run20six2 (123) - USA - MAR 25, 2004
First time trying this beer. Not to much taste. Medium dark. Good buy though for about 16 bucks. dirtymike (2016) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 14, 2004
Deep golden in color, a medium white head with small tight bubbles. Mild toasted malt aroma. Sweet malt flavor with a full malt body. ThaBobfather (178) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 23, 2009
I am highly impressed with this pale lager. definitely head and shoulders above it’s style. Good pour, there is a little sweet and in general it just out performs others in it’s style. BillKismet (4041) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 8, 2011
Lightly carbonated honeyed brass color with a thin, viscous head. Soft grain nose, whiffs of honey malt, and feint crisp hopping. I am pleasantly surprised at this one. For the low ABV% and considering the style, this packs a fine amount of flavor. Honey malted, crisp grain finish with just enough balancing hops. Thoroughly well-balanced and sessionable. Ranks very highly on the shortlist of top amber lager. Perhaps the poorer sister to Yuengling lager. The sum is more than the parts. An enjoyable lager.
