Thanks to Marko, I managed to sample the new, bottled version of this beer. Even though Gricka Vjestica is still my beer to go at Medvedgrad, Im no stranger to this one. Pours dark brown, with aroma of roasted malts and moderate foam. Soft to moderate carbonization. Sweetness and bitterness complement each other well after giving way to coffee/caramel. That said, not a complex beer.

50cl on tap. Pours dark brown with weak brownish head. Aroma of caramel and coffee. Taste is a bit sweet and predominantly caramel. Average sweetish aftertaste. Very drinkable, but it could be more complex.

From tap at Pivnica Mali Medo with TO 07.10.15. Very dark brown. Pale brown head and lacing. Aroma of American hops, roasted malt and burnt caramel. Similar taste. Moderate bitterness. Short aftertaste.

Bottle shared at King Hall. Opaque black pour with thin off-white foam. Aroma is toasty, roasted grain, light coffee, very mild chocolate notes. Taste is roasty, lightly caramelized, malt forward. Palate is light bodied, good carbonation, easy drinking. Good!

Draught at Zagreb
Dark hazelnut color, cappuchino head. Light hoppy aroma. Slightly roasted, hoppy mouthfeel. Oily aftertaste. Maybe "the easiest" to drink of Pivnica Medvedgrad beers.

Draft at the Boidara Adije location. Darkest brown lager, foamy over-the-top head. Soapy foam nose. Coating, rusty roast. Strong flavor, a touch metallic but otherwise very tasty. Striking roast, but same eggy, sour lactic nose that turned me off their other strong beer. Quite nice overall.

My Bottom Line:
Prune and toffee are balanced out by roastiness, as cherry angles precede this Schwarzbiers charred bread crust bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the darkened mahogany.
-The flavour profile is balanced throughout.
-Mouthfeel is quite malty, as seems to be the case for all their lagers (these arent anemic lagers, in other words).
-Drinkability is relatively high.

Bottle.
