3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A thick finger of head formed on top of a clear, medium straw colored body.
It smells mildly sour and like hay.
The taste is sour at the beginning with the mild smoke flavor moving in at the latter half. The sour remains on the aftertaste. It is different and interesting. The sourness is mild enough to appreciate but not enough to ruin it. A good balance.
Lighter body and moderate carbonation.
Worth trying for it’s uniqueness and it is good in its own right.
Bottle thanks to deyholla. Slightly hazy deep amber pour with a small head. Mellow smoked malt. Some tea accents, shag tobacco. Light fruity esters. Well balanced flavor. Lightly tart with some meaty smoke. Gentle mineral. Light body, soft carb. deyholla (12583) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 8, 2017

This is OK, but definitely unique, and fairly primitive, though I’m not sure on the freshness of my bottle. Low carbonation, no head. Hazy tea color. Stale seeming malts, lightly smoked, lightly soured, little apparent hopping. A bit grainy, a little vinous in the nose. DandyWolfFloyd (1257) - Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 30, 2016

Bottle. Pours hazy orange, medium kinda fizzy off-white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma is paper smoke, wheat, dust. Flavor is extremly lightly tart, light sweet, minimal bitterness, hints of smoke, lemon, wheat. Medium body. Not too exciting. KansaiBeerLvrs (5498) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 29, 2015
Part of a 10 euro, 6 beer blind tasting set at Trois 8’s biergarten event in Paris. 100% smoked wheat used by this German gypsy brewer. It pours golden with an off-white head. The aroma is of honeyed smoked wheat, it’s got a lovely soft body with flavors of tangy wheat, smoke & honey. Elegant. JulienHuxley (5979) - Sherbrooke, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 24, 2015
500 ml bottle. Clear amber-gold pour with very light haze. Aroma is wheaty, light smokiness, campfire smoke. Taste is lightly tart, very mild smokiness, bready wheaty notes, quite lactic, strange but oddly appealing. Palate is light bodied with thin carbonation, silky. Nice stuff. Draft at Brasserie V in Madison. Just a hint of haze. Light amber pour with h a slight white head. Low carbonation. Low level of tartness and a low level of smoke. Mild in all regards. Biggest feature is the bitterness on the backend.
