Growler fill from Simon, pours opaque black with small beige head. Aromas and taste of espresso, coffee bean, green coffee, chocolate, fudge. Smaller notes of vanilla, nuts, bitter and smokey malts but not over the top. Aftertaste is like you chewed on some columbian grinds. So rich and layered. No alcohol present for 11%. This beer is insane. Really takes a dump on the higher regarded coffee stouts out there. Medium body, a little bit sticky. One of the best Terry has made at Pizza Boy. Pours an opaque coffee brown with a thin buttery tan head. Aroma has a strong overtone of quality coffee plus hints of roast malt and molasses. Flavor has a strong tone of high-quality coffee with hints of no sweet chocolate, molasses and roast malt. Firm texture has good fizz, and leaves a nice mocha finish. Wake up to this! Beer:It isn’t just for breakfast anymore. TomDecapolis (4619) - Milton, Delaware, USA - DEC 1, 2014
22 oz bottle. Bottle states 9.5% abv. Pours a very deep brown, almost black but some amber notes coming through as I poured it (not motor oil black). Very small tan head that went away to nothing quickly. Aroma is all coffee and mocha, vanilla, some roasted malt and caramel…but primarily dominated by coffee. Coffee ice cream like aroma. Really is an excellent coffee beer aroma! Flavor is also of a ton of coffee, but not astringent. Caramel, mocha, milk chocolate, lightly roasted malt. Love the coffee profile in this beer. Coffee beers are one of my favorite styles and this is one of the best ones I have ever had. Had to knock the appearance a bit since it poured with minimal head and that went away quickly. bytemesis (9799) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JUN 28, 2015
Crowler thanks to Petrinoda! Pours inky black, small tan head that lasts a while and laces pretty well. Aroma is a rich mocha, lots of chocolate and coffee blended well with roasty malts. Flavor is light plus sweet, medium bitter, lots of mocha here too. Coffee ever present, but not overpowering. Fullish body, smooth and rich, lingering bitterness. Really solid. Aroma - very dark rich roast, high quality coffee, and some alcohol
Appearance - the body is black, the head is 2+" and tan in color. The head settles into a slice of foam.
Taste - has rich roasted strong coffee, chocolate malt - the taste is almost like chocolate covered espresso beans. Very tasty.
Palate - full body, thick and somewhat creamy texture, average carbonation, slight coffee-like astringency that has a long finish.

Sampled on draft at Hugo’s this beer poured a black color with a small beige head that left good lacing. The aroma was strong chocolate syrup, bread, coffee, vanilla, and malted milk. The flavor was strong brewed coffee, chocolate syrup, cream and malted milk. Very long finish of coffee and chocolate syrup. Full bodied, smooth and creamy. Alcohol very well controlled. Outstanding. On tap at Al’s / Pizza Boy. Really amazing coffee to the nose along with cream, vanilla, and milk chocolate. Great coffee and body is exquisite. Creamy with light vanilla touch. Compares very well to Terry’s Double Coffee Stout while at Bullfrog. Travlr (27304) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - APR 10, 2013
Draft at the source courtesy of Terry and Al, thanks very much! Black color, brown head. Aroma of fresh french press coffee, cocoa, subtle licorice. Taste is rich freshly roasted dark coffee beans, anise, dark fruit. Amazing stuff. BeerandBlues2 (14575) - Escondido, California, USA - FEB 1, 2014
Growler shared by Terry. Pours opaque black with a medium, creamy tan head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is roast, chocolate, and heavy coffee, dates and figs, earthy and spicy hops. Flavor is malt dominant, heavy coffee, dark fruits, light hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation. MrChopin (4305) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - FEB 19, 2014
black with thin ring. Coffee rules nose, huge after Earl with some ash, faintly green. Front palate is all coffee, seamless transition into a chocolate mid palate, light grinds and bitterness through the full, sweet decadent end. Best coffee beer I’ve had in years.
