Reviewed from notes.
Pours a moderate amber color with a nice white head. A bit of lacing but not as much as I would expect from something this hoppy. Nose is overload of citrus and pine and is quite nice overall. The taste is a really dominated by the strong hops notes, although the flavor isn’t as prevalent as the nose. The feel is quite bitter and nice. Drinks very well and was a nice selection. Glad to have visited.

GABF 2010, first of my hour + endeavor in the various Pizza Port offerings. Big BITTER red ale. Cascazilla on sterioids. Balanced but so bitter & delicious. Very nice beer to honor a great bar. anyone want to brew an 1104 Elmwood??? GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 12, 2010
Tap at PP Carlsbad. Poured a clear, deep red. Awesome retention and huge yellow lace. Looks like red antifreeze in the glass. Aroma is sweaty, red fruits, past its prime DIPA. Taste is heavy, salty, rich, lots of toffee and English chewy malt character dominating any nuance of hop balancing. Low carbonation. craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - SEP 26, 2010
sample from the pitcher @ GABF on 9/18/10. light red pour with a 1/4" white head. bitter citrus nose. really bitter mouthfeel. dank, floral hops come through with a bang! bitter finish with some malt to back up the hops. tokyogoat (1503) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 24, 2010
Poured a super dark burnt red, nose was hidden by the rubber bar mat, but it had a nice caramel and fruity hint, taste was very bitter, medium on hop flavor, pretty damn hot.

West USA trip 2010. On tap @ Pizza Port Carlsbad. The aroma has caramel, oranges, pine. Clear, amber coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is a bit sweet, bitter and has citric and piney hops, caramel and malty fruiness (oranges). Nice good bodied beer. danielcurtis81 (1519) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 22, 2010
Served on tap at Toronado SDThe appearance is a deep red/brown with a small off white head. Loads of hops, caramel, a really nice malt backing. Mouth is very drying and bitter but not over the top. A top notch double red. SamGamgee (2585) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - AUG 21, 2010
Draught at toronado’s 23rd anniversary party. Dark red-brown with a light beige head. Rich malty aroma of caremel and chocoalte with a nice hoppy accent that is mostly piney. The flavor is robust yet not too sweet and has a nice light chocolate component that mixes with a big pine and citrus hop flavor. Not really a dark DIPA like I would expect, and leans more on malt character than hops. Good, but not my favorite of the style. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - AUG 3, 2010
Tap at Carlsbad location. Nice rich reddish pour, off white head. Aroma is all hops and caramel malt. Flavor is hoppy, citrus, bready, yeast, and caramel. Another winner from PP. Damn nice. IrishBoy (4233) - Bakersfield, California, USA - JUL 15, 2010
