On tap at Avery Strong Ale Fest poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of carmel, oak, coffee and bitter chocolate. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of coffee, roastiness and bakers cocoa with a smooth dry lingering coffee finish.

Tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2013. Pours a bit murky dark brown appearance with a brown head. Huge bitter coffee aroma with some chocolate and herbal notes. Flavor is full of roasty coffee, roasty malts, and some sweetness. Tasty but a bit too coffee forward for me.

Draft sample. Poured dark brown with an average light brown frothy head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate smoked, toasted malt and bacon aroma. Medium to full body with a dry smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet and bacon flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Complex standout beer.

On draft for GABF 2012. Pours a deep roasted coffee color with an off-white head. Nose is coffee as hell; roasted coffee, cafe con leche, vanilla, some supporting chocolate, and roasted malts blending in perfectly. Flavor is similar- huge coffee presence, cafe con leche, vanilla, chocolate, roast, and all things good. Light to medium in body and lingering coffee into the finish. How this didnt rank a 5 on the daknole scale, I will never know!!

[on tap at OB Pizza Port] Roast vanilla and oak aroma that is very nice, but utterly lacking in any bacon or egg accents. Opaque black under a light brown ring. Sweet roasted barley flavour with lots of vanilla and nuts. Peanuts? Balance is a bit too far to the sweet side; could use more bittering. Medium body, low carbonation, nutty finish.

GABF. Big dark pour, brown head. Aroma is a coffee bomb and ok by me! I get some vanilla, a bit of ash, maybe a hint of smoke. Flavor is coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and more coffee. I love coffee bombs, so this is up my alley, but I could see some not enjoying it.

On tap in Denver for GABF 2012. Pours a dark murky brown color with a medium white head. A massive coffee nose. The flavor some sis very dry with huge coffee, roast, big vanilla. Very good.

draft samples. salty and starchy nose of old coffee grounds and cigarette ashes with burnt grain husk roast and ink notes. coarse, starchy malt huskiness throughout with a surprising fizziness and acidity in the finish. unpalatable and sourish lactic flavor with day-old wet coffee ground and astringent dark malts. unbelievably disappointing. I went back for more after drinking many more samples of The Butcher by Societe, which only made the experience worse.

Growler to CBC taster. Enjoyed on 11 May 2012. Thanks for this treat Nolan! Deep mocha brown. 1.5 (medium tan) fingernail head on gentle pour. Loads of dark roasted coffee beans up front followed by chocolate. No much else, but thats okay because this beer tastes really good. Taste is very roasty and robust. Follows smell, but the complexity and depth of this beer are thoroughly enjoyable. Loads of chocolate and coffee. Bitterness is rounded out by a touch of vanilla and soft smokiness. Wicked smooth and very tasty. A fun beer to try and Id love to enjoy this with some proper bacon and eggs brekkie some time. Im not sure how a breakfast beer could get much better. Well done!

From a growler at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012, thanks to Paul who got it from other guy. Pours clear, red-brown with a fine, foamy beige head. Has a huge filter coffee nose that reminds me intensely of Dunkin Donuts coffee. Medium to big sweet flavor with ultra rich coffee, some chocolate syrup. Oh so, so smooth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Great finish, medium sweet, moderate roast, cocoa, robust coffee with a mild bitter edge. One of the truest coffee beers I have ever had. Completely drinkable. Wow.
