Sampled from the tap at the OB location. Pours a deep, dark brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of coffee with sweet dark grains and some roasted malts underlying. From notes. Enjoyed at Corbet’s house warming on April 23.16 oz can. The pour is a nice darker black with a thick light khaki colored head and a few spots of lace as it froths down to a film and thick ring. The aroma is really malty and roasty. There is a pretty good coffee going on, but the chocolate and a light bitterness slowly move through. This is definitely not as good as I thought it would be. It’s just a little messy with the chocolate and the coffee fighting the roast. The flavor is much of the same. There is a sharpness of alcohol on it with a light chocolate and the roasty malt. It’s bitter, but decent. The mouth feel is a touch light with a soft carbonation and a lingeringly bitter chocolate and coffee on the finish. UPDATED: APR 18, 2017 Can from the OB brewery. Pours very dark brown with a thin, fizzy head. Tastes like roasted malt, smokey wood, burnt toast, and roasted coffee. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like dark chocolate malt, roasted, smokey wood, burnt toast, and light ash.

Can from a trade into a wine galss showing pitch black with half a finger of latte colored foam.
The nose shows a lot of mocha, coffee, and light bacon notes.

tap @ tap & bottle: hm.. Well, the title and description are not lying, this is one coffee-heavy imperial porter. For me, the green coffee flavor, often prevalent in cold brew that has been soaked for a long time, is just overpowering on the nose. The typical porter or imperial porter notes of caramel and roasted malts are undetectable behind the huge wall of soaked coffee. The taste is actually quite nice and very much like I would expect from the style, ample sweetness but also a little bit of balancing bitterness and astringency. On the aftertaste, the coldbrew starts to mingle in with the more malt-based aromas of caramel and toffee but that’s a little too late for me. I really wished that I would like this one better. Pours black with a foamy, medium beige head. The aroma is big on both coffee and roasted malts, along with lighter amounts of chocolate and smoke. Chocolate and coffee dominate the taste. I still find a healthy amount of roasted malts. There are minor amounts of caramel and licorice, and a long aftertaste of chocolate. All of this is accompanied by some mild sweetness.
