From tap at San Clemente. Pours dark brown, almost unclear and with a light orange glare and a lacing tan head. Fruity and mild hoppy aroma. Flavour is dense fruity with a solid and dark caramel malt note. Fruity dark finish with a touch of liqourice and hops. Ungstrup (38249) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JUN 6, 2009
Draft at San Clemente. A deep red beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty combined with notes of caramel, alcohol, and nuts. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel and alcohol, as well as medium notes of malt and nuts, leading to a dry, nutty, and alcoholic finish. The alcohol leaves a burn on the palate. brokensail (16633) - Dublin, California, USA - NOV 29, 2012
Mahogany colored pour with an off-white head. Nose is very sweet and heavy on the toffee, brown sugar, chocolate, and dark fruit notes. Quite boozy, unfortunately. Some pine and citrus peel hops, too. Lots of booze to the flavor, too. Sweet caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and chocolate. Some earthy and piny hop notes, mild citrus, and some perfume. On tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting amber head. Aromas of figs, burnt carmel, toffee and dates. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, dark fruit and earthiness with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish.GT (10002) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 1, 2013
Quite a disapointment coming from Pizza Port. I expected more.
Tap at PPSC. Full haze maroon with good yellow lace. Nose is sweet tomato, salty, toffee, vanilla, something like egg nog. Taste again papery and dry with red apple skins, black pepper. Very long acrid, puckering papery dryness. Fiancé rating: 3.1

Dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt sweetness with some earthy woody hops too. Flavor is sweet and roasty with some earthy bitterness in the finish. Alcohol hidden. Pretty drinkable all things considered. Did not really strike me as a BW, but whatever. JohnnyJ (5569) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 14, 2009
