UPDATED: FEB 27, 2013 Tap. Pours with a murky brown hued body with a small tan head that doesn’t last. Aromas are sticky, nutty and toasted malt. Estery, pears and berries. Mild hop character; mostly pine. Flavors are sweet, estery, pears, melon. Pretty bitter with lots of pine and resin. Medium-low carbonation and very full bodied. brokensail (16648) - Dublin, California, USA - NOV 29, 2012
Hazy brown with a tan head. Aromas are sweet with caramel, tamarind, hoppy, sweet, berries, caramel, nutty. Flavors are nutty, bready, toasty, caramel, grassy, orangey hop character. Full bodied, thick and boozy.
Mahogany colored pour with an off-white head. Nose is very sweet and heavy on the toffee, brown sugar, chocolate, and dark fruit notes. Quite boozy, unfortunately. Some pine and citrus peel hops, too. Lots of booze to the flavor, too. Sweet caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and chocolate. Some earthy and piny hop notes, mild citrus, and some perfume. tokyogoat (1503) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 16, 2010
A decent offering, well worth the money and i’d possibly get it again. Just didn’t knock my socks off. Big,but not bold. Kind of a less than impressive yet tasty barleywine. iowaherkeye (2804) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - APR 24, 2010
Tulip at San Clemente. Hazy dark brown with a one finger oily beige head, BW retention. Lots of toffee and caramel malt in the nose with some raisins and sweaty lemony Cascade hops. I also get the slightest tinge of tobacco. Flavor adds more tobacco and some chocolatey notes, even light cherries and cherry Luden’s. Not getting much in the realm of hops. The caramel and toffee aren’t near as strong, though still present. Bitterness peaked at a 3-4 in the semi-dry finish, light alcohol noted. Big full body with light carbonation. Pretty nice. doubleo (1432) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 13, 2010
