On tap at Sour and Bitter, best beer this evening and the last one sampled. Black look with a thick brown head. Aroma of light roasted coffee, wood, fat caramel fudge and bourbon. Alchohol bitter flavor, sweet chocolate and caramel along with roasted maltty bitterness. Great! hamilton23 (619) - Alpine, California, USA - DEC 23, 2012
On tap at Pizza Port. Pours very dark brown, nearly black with creamy tan head. Aroma is chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and coconut. The taste follows the nose with tons of chocolate sweetness and well balanced bourbon. This was one of the best beers I have had in 2012. BOLTZ7555 (3027) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - JAN 13, 2013
On tap @ PP Carlsbad. Squid ink pour with shades of onyx, mahogany, and mocha...a frothy latte head creates spatters, spots, and rings inside the glass. Aroma a bit more subtle than the flavor but still sublime. Molasses, cocoa, brownie batter, rich fudge, vanilla, raw oak, and caramel are all there. Nice bourbon influence adds complexity and balance versus distraction. Everything melds remarkably well. Exponentially better than the non-BA version. Milkshake consistency. Delicious!

Pizza Port Carlsbad. Aroma is fantastic. Definitely smell before drinking, then repeat. Nice balance of strong flavors with bourbon but maybe a little overdone on the bourbon.nevertheless a great barrel aged stout. Still can’t get over the near perfect aroma. Zarin (202) - ITALY - DEC 29, 2012

At Avery Strong Ale Fest 2013--black pour with a khaki head. Boozy chocolaty aroma with sugar-cane-rum, dark chocolate, gentle roastiness, and oak. Flavor is pretty bourbony but without a lot of booze heat. Flavor has molasses, sugar cane bourbon, deep chocolate and a light, dry finish. Aniela (4216) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 13, 2012

Draft at pizza port Carlsbad with Linh. Pitch black with light brown ring lacing, no head. Aroma is muted dark chocolate and light bourbon. Mouthfeel is smooth, full and creamy with notes of delicious sweet chocolate, oak, bourbon, maple and molasses. Reminiscent of older viscosity, which is always a good thing. Awesome.
