Defreni (3294) - Husum, DENMARK - OCT 15, 2010

Tap @ Toronado 2nd Anny. Pours a deep brown almost black with a nice creamy beige head. Big pine and deep roasted malts on the nose. Medium sticky on the palate.

4.3
joet (2662) - Wilsonville, Oregon, USA - MAY 15, 2010
A standout at Boonville, background but defined bright roasts in the chocolate range but they really play backseat to the the malts in the lower crystal range. And all of that gets run over by the onslaught of big burly vibrant green piney and citric high alpha acid hops. The texture is also substantial. This is a creamy, fleshy brew. What a testament! Fantastic.

(on tap at carlsbad). Pours dark caramel with off-white head. Aroma of citrus and pine. Taste is sweet and bitter. The hops are very pronounced with there is a silky chocolate smoothness as well. Nice beer.

wetherel (1888) - Cupertino, California, USA - MAY 6, 2010
On tap at PP Carlsbad. Pours black and thick with a small tap head of tight bubbles. Medium hoppy aroma. Sweetish. Some caramel and low level melanoidins. Medium boil bitterness. Nice.

elihapa (1554) - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA - SEP 9, 2010
On tap, PP Carlsbad. Pours black as night, with a white head. Aroma has huge floral hop aspect, with pine and chocolate playing a role. Palate is medium with a slightly creamy element that matched the dark hue of the beer perfectly. Flavor is blasts of flowers, resin and pine, with an ash-bitter delicious finish. Loved this beer throughout, a shame I had it so late in a night of drinking.

Served on tap at Pizza Port OB. Pours a rich deep black with a small off white to tan head. The flavors and aromas are sweet with melon like hop tones. Mango, to go with some orange peel. Nice roasted malt edge to the brew. Some nice caramel notes too. A very drinkable and tasty black IPA.

Overall, this beer was terrible, it was about as vile a beer as they come. I’ll avoid it like the plague form now on. It said black IPA, but tasted more like black mold.
