Shaker pint at PP OB. Clear auburn with a one finger creamy beige head, fades to a creamy thick film. Big tropical fruit nose atop some rich sweet caramel, light scorched toffee. Flavor follows suit, plenty of the sweet malts to balance the fruity hops. Semi-dry with bitterness peaking at a 6, some alcohol noted. Low prickly carbonation with a full body. I’m not a big fan of the imperial reds due to the malt character, but this is solid. brokensail (16440) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 10, 2012
Dark amber pour with a dense off-white head. Nose of caramel and toffee malts, a nice creaminess, too. Some floral hops, perfume, pine, and chocolate. Fairly sweet overall. The flavor is very sweet and heavy on the chocolate. Plenty of toffee, some molasses, and a fair amount of caramel. Moderate floral notes, some light pine bitterness, and a slightly herbal character. Draft at PP Carlsbad. Clear dark red pour, off white head. Big bitter hops, sweetness, caramel malt, toffee, and citrus. Quite bitter, with lots of malt body, pretty typical for an ASA. Ok.
