Lagered...nice. Very dark brown. Rich chewy black malt nose. Light nutty coffeeish accents. Very thick, rich body. Slightly sticky. Chewy dense chocolate fudge torte. Light accent of burned plum. ajm (1072) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JUL 25, 2008
Very fine! On tap at the brewpub. Very nice aroma of dark fruit, which the flavor adds to: coffee, charcoal, roasty malts and milk chocolate, just about in that order. Deep, deep black, thin ring of white head. JohnnyJ (5569) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 1, 2009
On tap at toronado SD. Very dark brown pour, frothy tan head. Dark roasted malts, cherries, chocolate, licorice, nuts, and light coffee. It’s a lager? Easily could be an imp stout. Excellent! pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 6, 2008
tap at stone bistro....poured a very dark brown, almost black, with reddish brown hues towards the edges. a thin tan wispy head topped this elixir off..... aroma of roasted malt, some smoke, and sweet chocolate.... flavor had a nice light roast component, a little burnt toast, and sweet rich chocolate. alcohol very well hidden for being 9.5% which i didn’t know was that high at the time that i had it. On tap at O’briens. Pours with a dark brown to black body topped by a pencil thin head with little lacing. It’s slightly sweet and roasty with a nice malt note and a hint of coffee. Full bodied and smooth.

Draught at PP Carlsbad. A true lagered porter! Thick opaque black, tan head, liberal lacing, looks viscious. Slightly solvent with a lovely sweet ending with kisses of black licorice and a silky mouthfeel, yum. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 28, 2008
Thanks to Joey for the handbottle! Poured clear burnt umber with a short cap of medium brown head. The aroma made me smile.. semi-sweet chocolates meet charred molasses, toasted wood, and sweeter vanilla.. light, dry herbal notes accent. The flavor had sticky, toasted darker chocolates and a bit of molasses at the core, mostly surrounded by burnt black patent malts (too much for my liking).. bitterness was low and herbal in nature.. some lactic notes hit toward the finish. Medium-plus bodied with a bit too much sweetness on the palate.. also a bit too burnt on the finish. Overall some mighty fine stuff. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - AUG 12, 2008
Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasty with chocolate and a ton of sweet dark fruit. Roasted malts, chocolate, touch of burnt malts, nuts, and dark fruits make up the flavor profile. Strong alcohol, but a pretty clean finish. Enjoyable brew. danielcurtis81 (1519) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 17, 2008
Getting notebook online. Draft at Stone. Pours a flat black. Good dark fruit and coffee nose. Roasted malts, coffee, dark cherries, light licorice flavors. Smooth warm mouth. Read good! alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - JUN 3, 2009
On tap at Toronado SD; had no idea what the style was, but glad it was a Baltic Porter, as it is a style I haven’t had too much of yet. Color was a dark brown to black with a light brownish head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit, toffee and a bit of coffee and sweetness. Flavor was very nice. Roasted, sweet, sugary and a bit chalky. Fruity as well. Very good beer.
