On the cask at Solana Beach, 8/2/06. Pours a murky brown with no head. Aroma is heavy with caramel malt and toffee. Viscous mouthfeel, but still light. Tons of flavors ranging through caramel, almonds, and toffee with some woody bitterness at the back. Simply a great beer. awaisanen (1304) - Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 13, 2006
On tap in Solana Beach. Tasted 5/8/06. Pours a brownish color of hazelnut shell, without being either transparent enough to see through, or cloudy enough to describe as hazy either. Aromas of English toffee are blended with a touch of malt balls and thin light chocolate. A touch of wafer cookie seems to be wafting up as well. Mouthfeel is light and creamy with plent of froth excited upon contact to the tongue. Light, but pleasant nutty flavors of almonds are mixed thoroughly with the chocolate and toffee notes found in the bouquet. The finish is a touch thin, but scores some more flavor points in the final smack of cookie dough and maple syrup. papajohn (1250) - San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA - JUN 13, 2006

Solana: Color is dark brown, but clear with a small off white head. Aroma is sweet and nutty. Flavor is sweet and nutty and brown ale like with a medium spicy bitterness in the finish. Must try again.
