Draft... RBSG... This beer rocks!... Beautiful, clear, dark copper ale with a small, creamy, white head. Big caramel and light milk chocolate in the aroma. Full-bodied and fatty with lazy carbonation. A slight nod toward the sweet side of balance. Loads of caramel malt kept in check by earthy, herbal hops. Lengthy, crisp, mildly acrid finish. On the cask at Solana Beach, 8/2/06. Pours a murky brown with no head. Aroma is heavy with caramel malt and toffee. Viscous mouthfeel, but still light. Draft @ PP Carlsbad under the heading Wee Heavy Scottish, but close enough. Nice, substantial, malty, and nutty. Very nice.

On Cask at Solana Beach. Brown with barely even a bubble floating atop. Very malty aromas, Caramel, toffee. Some oaky flavor in there along with the same malts in the aroma. Deep amber hue with big tan head. Caramel malts dominate with a touch of peat, light esters, and slight alcohol. Flavor is caramel and peaty malts, finishes prickly and drying. 20/09/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Bel colore rubino, con riflessi arancia, schiuma color paglia, abbondante e parecchio persistente. Naso decisamente interessante, di frutta rossa, con note di caramello e una punta di liquirizia. In bocca è morbida, dolciastra, appena luppolata, con note di frutta rossa. Un po’ scarica di corpo, leggera, poco carbonata. Una discreta bevuta.
