Once upon a time it was the most award winning Pizza Port beer of all time. Now it has found a new home at The Lost Abbey. A massive brown ale base that is made from four fermentable sugars including Malted Barley, Raisins, Candi Sugar and Sour Cherries, this beer is fully fermented before being placed in Bourbon barrels where the beer ages for one year with the Sour Cherries and the wild Brettanomyces yeast that we inoculate the barrels with. One of the most complex and unique beers we make each year.

2010. Ugly as sin: muddy brown body, zero head or lace. A double paper bagger. Heavy oak character through and through. Pretty sour, darkish fruits and funky yeast on the palate. Bitterness from the yeast is apparent, though the sourness lingers. Much better aged than fresh.

Aromat to nuty winne, migdały, generalnie czerwone wino. Po pewnym czasie wychodzi jednak ogromna wanilia i kokos. W smaku na początku słodkie wiśnie i marcepan, pźniej wchodzi bourbon w słodkiej postaci i cierpka wiśnia, a jeszcze pźniej po gardle czule pieszcząc spływa bourbonowy alkohol. Genialne piwo, zdecydowanie wielowymiarowe. Z czerwonego wina przeistacza się w solidnego beczkowego bourbonowca.

From mobile notes; I thought I already drunk it from a bottle, but I was wrong. That was Framboise de amorosa...anyway, this one I drunk in BeerCraft Rohnert park@ a few days before RBB2017, where they had it on tap: poured dark reddish brown with practically no head, just beige brown ring around the glass edges. Aroma-flavors: tart cherries, funk, vanilla, woody oak notes, candy sugar, molasses, vanillin, very dry, tart finish. Alcohol is perfectly hidden. Body is medium?, texture soft, carbonation moderate to low.

Bottle, thnx to Jimmy. Pours a blurry caramel brownish beer without any head on top. Aroma of mostly chocolate and caramel, hint of oaky vanilla and a faint touch of Bretty notes. Flavor is quite tart, hints of caramel though, softly carbonated. Quite complex and interesting, full bodied and long lasting. Some boozy notes in the finish. Very nice.

Draft at the brewery. Pours dark nut brown with a fizzy beige head. Tastes like tart fruits, red wine, nice acidity, earthy and woody malt. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like tart fruits, acidic, grassy malt, red wine, earth, and wood.

Tap at brewery. Pours hazy brown. Aroma is balsamic, oak, acetic acid, plums, raisins, cherries, and light toast. Flavor is very acidic with lots of dark fruit esters, oak, vanilla, and some caramel. Medium body.

Balsamvinger-syrlig, romrussin, katrinplommon, vins, aning ekfat och vaniljkola. Mrkt brunrdaktig kulr, inget skum. Mjukt stsyrlig smak med dragning t krsbr, vin och mnga olika br. Hr finns en traktig krvhet som r lite otrevlig men i vrigt en mycket intressant, komplex komposition. Fyllig, alkoholstark och med en mycket lg kolsyreniv. Eftersmaken r lng och syrlig.

From small bottle, vintage 2011 into small taster glass. No head, nose is vinegar, some cherries dark roasted wheat. Very sour, aged too long, very minimal carbonation, slight sweetness. Definitely past its prime, need to get hands on a bottle in its prime.

Perfect aroma of tart red fruit and red wina scents.
Looking a bit muddy and cherry in color.
Taste is dominated by wine and fruitiness.
Surprisingly drinkable, more like a very good wine than beer. Alcohol superbly hidden.

Shared bottle. Turbid ruby/brown pour, off-tan head, Nose was tart acidity, cherry, berry, oaky bourbon. Flavors of oak bourbon, cherry, tart finish. Great beer.
