Draft at Pizza Port Solana Beach with Andrew, Brendan and the big boy daddy dad Bachelor, Dallas. Pours a deep amber red body with no head. Aroma is mild and plain. Mouthfeel is smooth and thin with some bland malty notes, fruit and bread. hivemind (914) - New York, New York, USA - SEP 12, 2011
On tap at Pizza Port (Carlsbad) with Andy, James and Dallas for Dallas’ bachelor weekend. Pour is black with a light brown head and no lacing. Mocha and rum (?) on the nose. High carbonation is the first thing on the palate. Bold, piney flavor is briefly there, but is quickly taken over by sweet alcohol in the aftertaste. Pours lovely, deep ruby red with a medium, staying, frothy, off-white head. Aroma is sweet, lots of berries, light phenolic, strawberries, caramel and mild sweetness. High carbonation, kinda watery mouthfeel. Flavour is kinda boring, some mild cardboard, caramel, some berries and light phenolic. Not top class.
On tap. Pours a clear warm brown with a nice beige head. The nose has a little sweet roast but also a strange sulphurous and phenolic off-flavor. Light body, some roast malt and sweet licorice. Hard roast in the finish. 160111
