GABF 06, Taste on this beer was pretty sweet for an IPA, but still pretty tasty with plenty of citrus hop flavor. Not an assertive bitterness, but it’s enough. Schultsc (572) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 12, 2006
UPDATED: OCT 13, 2008 Golden amber in color with a thin head. Very fruity hops aroma without an abundance of the citrus and pine notes one usually gets in beers such as this--berries instead--very interesting. Dried apricot dominate the fruity hop profile along with a bit of sweetness. Not a strong malt body despite the sweetness. A medium body overall with well balanced alcohol character. On tap @ Pizza Port San Clemente poured a cloudy copper with a small dissapating off white head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness, pine and a hint of grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied dry and resiny. Flavors of carmel, pine and a hint of orange with a dry bitter finish. IPALover (63) - Carlsbad, California, USA - JUL 14, 2006
Great example of a strong hop character DIPA. Interesting hop aroma and taste. This beer actually improves with aging (drank one growler after 2 months of time in the fridge) and it becomes more smooth tasting (while maintaining the strong bitterness I love.) 6th annual Bistro IIPA fest. Fruity, hop aroma; something is off. Hazy amber body with a slightly off-white ring. Hempish initial mouthfeel. Decent balance. Not my favorite IIPA.

Draft at PP Strong Ale Fest ’05. Hazy coppery pour with some small head. Large grapefruity piney hop aroma. Semi sweet caramel malty flavors with loads of grapefruity hops. Fairly bitter bite that lingered. Dry finish. JasonG (776) - Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - JAN 6, 2006
Draft at brewery: Light copper color with smallish off white head. Aroma is hoppy (amarillo?) with apricot, apple, and a touch of malt. Flavor has a touch of malt, with peach, apricot, critrusy hops. Finish is dry, with a significant, lasting bitteness. CMUBEERMAN (442) - - DEC 31, 2005
This is a pretty good double IPA. Not very big. Good friutiness and hop balance. goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - DEC 18, 2005
9th Annual San Diego Strong Ale Fest: Hazy amber color. Big grapefruit hops with some light floral notes. Malt shows up underneath. Acidic hop flavor from the front to the middle. Citrus hop from middle to end. Mild bitterness on the semi-dry finish. Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 10, 2005
Murky caramelized yellow, crowned by a white film. Vibrant hop nose, both citric and piney procuring tropical fruits and grapefruit^2 both tangy and juicy, yet with growing oiliness. The hops literally grab the nostrils and hide the malts, yet they are pleasant, intensely fruity, what can I say, must be the pizza port touch. Then, in mouth, malts kick in with a fruitiness of their own (apricot) and a bready, almost cakey sweetness that provides the bed for the less aromatic hops that remain fully floral, piney and citrusy. Tasty if quite light bodied for the style, though on the better hand, no alcohol is noticeable ever.
