On hand pump at Pizza Port San Clemente, 02/25/08. Cask conditioned and served at nearly room temp, this black pour had almost no head and no carbonation. Smells like black coffee. Tastes the same, but with subtle sour cherries and even more fleeting chocolate on finish. Didn’t notice the oat flavor. Nice, but not the home run I had been expecting.
"A solid brew. Hints of coffee, dark fruit, chocolate and burnt grain. A tad thin but super smooth, so it drinks very nicely. No hint of alcohol and a pleasant bittersweet finish." Sammy (12762) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 19, 2014
Had this on tap at Toronado SD. Smooth, but found it a little sour (bourbon) in the finish. Mortlach (2510) - Rome, ITALY - NOV 23, 2012
22/11/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Bevuta al Thanksgiving Day. Nera, impenetrabile, densa, schiuma binacastra-beige, abbastanza persistente. Naso non pulitissimo, qualche cattivo odore, sentori di cioccolato, vaniglia e frutta secca. In bocca è dolciastra, cioccolatosa, un po’ insipida, non molto convincente. Corpo medio, carbonatazione soft. Deludente. yngwie (17234) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - OCT 1, 2012
On tap at Mikkeller Bar. A dark brown beer, almost black, and topped by a finger-thick, dense, light tan head. Roasted malts, some dried fruits, coffee and chocolate on the nose. The flavor is roasted and quite chocolatey, some dried fruits chime in, and there’s also a pleasant hoppy flavor. Semi-dry, full-bodied and smooth on the palate, and with a lasting finish with coffee, chocolate and a good bitterness. I’m quite used to beers needing quite a few sips to open up and show its potential. This one’s the opposite, after a few sips it gets sort of boring. But it’s still a nice beer. 120510 blipp (9696) - La Mesa, California, USA - SEP 28, 2012
Draft. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Light roasted malts, some lighter malty sweetness, and low bitterness. Nice full mouthfeel. Good stuff.

Sample at the brewpub. Blackish pour with a medium creamy light tan head that recedes slowly. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee and malt. Light bodied and smoove as advertized with flavors of roasted malt, coffee and a touch of grain. The finish is malty with a mildly bitter coffee aftertaste. Decent overall. Draught at Mikkeller bar, Copenhagen. Dark brown color. Aromas of milk chocolate and vanilla. Mellow roasty taste with milk chocolate, vanilla and oak. Low bitterness. Not bad, but slightly too oaky for my taste. Palme (4823) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 1, 2012
On tap @ Mikkeller bar. This is a near black one with a small and quickly sidesticking beige head. The aroma is milky-sweet with chocolate and some lactic coffee. Nice enough. A bit "thin" in the mouth and it has a average+ carbonation level. Flavors are light roasted with a clear milk chocolate flavor before it ends with something that reminds me of mineral water. A sweet good one. 10.05.2012 Meilby (11692) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUN 19, 2012

Pours black with a light tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate and oatmeal. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long chocolate and oatmeal finish. Body is medium, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.
Very dark brown with a small brown head. Malty with chocolate tones. malt, caramel and chocolate. Medium body with a nice balanced after taste.
