On tap @ Pizza Port San Clemente.
Deep amber pour with a fluffy white head. Aroma is very malty with lots of bread and toast. Pine and resin hop aromas as well. Flavor is very balanced with the malt balancing out the hop bitterness. Citrus and pine with some nuttiness. Ibrew2or3 (8913) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - AUG 1, 2011
Poured up on tap at Stone Bistro with amber body and copper like edges supporting a loose light tan head. The aroma is modest in strength but offers up a good deal of complexity with roasted malts, crystal like malt sweetness, spicy to pine hops and a thicket of caramel candy from time to time. The taste has a firm and pleasing level of pine hops, spicy hops and some citrus too. In between the bold hops are thin layers of mildly roasted malts, malt sweetness and a bit of caramel. Nice hoppy brew. Bgarnreiter (53) - Alabama, USA - JUL 19, 2011
Smells earthy and floral. Pours coped with light tan head. Tastes wheaty, Carmel slight bitter, quite delicious. Surprisingly so, as I haven’t ha many reds. brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 14, 2011
A: The pour is a clear golden straw color with a bog white head on it.
S: A nice maltiness to it with some bread and cracker notes. A little bit of banana notes, citrus peel, and a fair amount of spiciness. The spice is mostly white pepper but a few others I can’t pinpoint.
T: A nice sweetness to the beer with bready and cracker malts. Light bananas with some citrus peel notes and a light bitterness. Some hints of fruits in there, particularly some pears and apples.
M: Light to medium in body with a medium to high carbonation.
O: A nice and easy to drink Belgian beer with good flavors. Quite enjoyable. pantanap (3367) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 24, 2011
Feeding frenzy. On tap at haymarket... Pours a clear copper pour with
a milky beige head... Malty caramel and biscuits and a light hop
bitterness on the backend... Flavors are much of the same with a malty
middle and a bitter lasting finish. Semi-big bodied, somewhat boozy

Draft on tap at Haymarket’s Pizza Port Event (Chicago, IL). Pours a nice dark brownish copper hue, very dark, very overdone tea, with a good frothy caked tannish head that laces very well. Aromas are crisp toasty grains, crystal malts, floral hops, grass, and some grapefruit and lemons. Distinct toastiness. Initial is medium bodied, preaching big toasty malts, caramel, toffee, sweet hazelnuts with decent florals, grassy hops, touches of grapefruits and lemons. All toasty and crystal malts with decent hopping. Very toasty, caramel, peanuts, and toast. Finish is decent bitterness, dry toast, some grassy and earthy qualities. The crystal malt is way heavy on this one, toast and caramelized malts. Interesting, but not well done. Grapefruit slinks into the fold into the backend as it warms. Ok. anders37 (27588) - Malmö, SWEDEN - MAY 5, 2011

Hand-bottle (gusher)… Pours the color of burnt caramel with a huge, frothy, khaki head. Fantastic retention. The aroma is fruity, malty and lightly lactic – caramel, toasted nuts, plain Greek yogurt and earthy hops. Medium to full-bodied with a raspy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. The flavor leans bitter, but there’s some nice toffee in there along with cherry-like acidity. Finishes crisp, moderately bitter, lightly tart, and then bone-dry. Obviously infected, but still fairly enjoyable. Thanks go out to plovmand for shipping this sample my way!
