UPDATED: FEB 14, 2004 (Draft: Double IPA Tasting, O'Brien's in SD) Fresh, floral hops is dominant from start to finish; Mildly sweet, but the citric hoppiness more than offsets the maltiness, especially in the finish; Doesn't seem strongly alcoholic; Strong, fresh hoppy nose; Clean and crisp palate; Dark golden color and clear; Off white head with average retention and some lacing cquiroga (371) - Tujunga, California, USA - JAN 6, 2004
12/5/03. On tap at Pizza Port Strong Ale Festival in Carlsbad, CA 12/5/03. Clear, amber body with slight, reddish-bronze outline. Dense, rocky head-- good size-- fantastic lacing. Sweet, piney nose with delicious hops. Very full, sweet body with slightly harsh, mouth-watering spice and bitterness and some alcohol burn. Very nicely active carbonation. Smooth but not super-clean finish, long and mellow. Simply a wonderful Double IPA. erway (1004) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - JAN 5, 2004
On cask at Obriens, and third pint served from that cask I might add. Beautiful head atop a golden unfiltered body. I could actually see hop remnance floating around in the beer. The aroma was pure heaven and the first sip was nearly as good. This was very smooth in good part because of the cask-conditioning. The only thing I would ask is more bittering hops. Never would have guessed it was 9.5%. Jokes (1455) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 14, 2003
Super sweet hoppy aroma. Sweet grapefruit and lemon. Light amber body with a nice, lacing white head. Caramel in the nose. A sticky sweet, full mouthfeel. Toffee and caramel start befor the citrus and pine onslaught. The bitterness is intense and flavorful. A very nice IIPA.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2005 I gotta say, I love this stuff. Cask, draft or growler, whatever it’s frigging awesome. Fresh bud in a glass. I’ve never had a bad one. Almost total grapefruit juice with some tangerine zest. Gusler (2652) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - DEC 9, 2003

Clear amber on the pour with a modest bright white and creamy head, the lace a thin veil upon the glass. The hops made the nose, flowery and a nice citrus crispness with the start ambrosial, decent malt presence and the top moderate in its feel to the palate. Finish was briskly acidic, the hop masterful in their spiciness, very dry and long lasting aftertaste, quite a fine Double or Imperial IPA, one I sampled twice I believe.
Citrusy nose pouring out of this one. A medium bodied brew with a creamy mouthfeel. Hoppy bitterness as expected with a pretty good malt balance. Sickboy282 (1116) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 7, 2003
THis is one tasty IPA. Very smooth and piney... just how I like it. For the amount of alcohol, this is one of the best IPAs I've had papajohn (1340) - San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA - NOV 30, 2003
Dark amber color with a small (bar pour) white head. Sweet pineapple grapefruit nose. Flavor starts rich and sweet followed quickly by a firm grapefruit bitterness. Finish is dry, pine and citrus (tangerine rind). An excellent choice with a pepperoni, anchovie, pinapple pizza. (Pizza Port Carlsbad).
