This is a monster of a double IPA.
I have had it on draft,a casked version and an "Iced" version as well. The huge hop aroma is evident through all as is the balancing malt character. But the huge alcohol of the iced batch was amazingly well hidden behind all that hop nose and wonderfull bitterness.Nice dry, citrus mouthfeel. It's "da-BOMB"! Da HOP bomb!! Kathy (241) - Washington DC, USA - NOV 10, 2002
A basic red-brown, standard beer color. Grapefruity hop aroma. Foamy head. Balanced, nicely sweet with some malt in there. Has some pine character, too. Like someone took sweet tea and added some bitter. Marc (486) - Yokosuka, JAPAN - SEP 9, 2002
Outstanding. Honeyed color and an exteamly oily head. Citrusy hops in the nose with almost a pineapple quality. Very thick mouthfeel as you mouth gets enveloped in hops. Bitterness is very pleasant and not to out of balance at start giveing way to a little bread like malt. Monster finish, I was enjoying bitter hops halfway down the freeway upon leaving Pizza port. Oooh. Got this at a tasting where it sat on a tray, being served to dozens of people, and it still had a huge head when I got it. Not surprisingly, it's hoppy as all get-out. Nice grassy and pine sensibilities. Flavor is expectantly hoppy, very citrusy with plenty of grapefruit and pine. Wonderfully balanced, a nice sweet and toasty maltiness backs up the big hops. Love the mouthfeel--nicely creamy. A good 'un. hopscotch (11175) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - SEP 6, 2002
This beer rocks.
Very complex in aroma and flavor. Try to keep up. The nose is lightly malty, but ruled by THE HOP. Very heavy hop aroma; specifically flowers, grapefruit and soap... well hopped soap?? The high alcohol content also comes through in the nose.
The beer has a clear and flat amber appearance. The creamy, white head is mostly lasting with excellent lacing. The initial flavor is very well balanced. Moderately sweet and moderately bitter. The back end is owned by the moderately bitter finish. It's also lightly acidic and salty back there and it lasts and lasts. The mouthfeel is between medium and full. It's also dry with lively carbonation. Also, moderately alcoholic in the finish. Very, very good strong ale.

Big head atop a medium orange body. The aroma is healthy pine. There are loads of hops here, the pine and grapefruit are nicely mixed. There's also a lot of sweetness, which nicely balances the bite. Crisp and tasty!
