Growler fill from Pizza Port - Bressi Ranch ($24). Pours a clear golden - dark amber hue with two big fingers of quite frothy foam leaving good lacing. AROMA of sweet biscuity malts, lemon, cantaloupe, tropical fruit (guava, passion fruit, papaya), and dank hops. FLAVOR of biscuity and honey malts, lemon, overripe tropical fruit, brewed tea, some spicy hops, and perhaps just a hint of the toasted rice? Somewhat bitter but with a definite balancing sweetness...normally I dont enjoy sweetness a whole lot in my IPAs but somehow it works quite well here. Dry finish with a somewhat soft mouthfeel. I really liked this IPA a lot...not your usual pine-y and citrus-y hop bomb, but different and much more nuanced. The lemon-y aspect of the Sorachi Ace is nice...will have to look for more Sorachi Ace hopped beers (空知エース} I did live in Japan for five years...(10, 906)

On tap at cbad... Piurs a mostly transparent orangey blonde hue and topped with a creamy white head...Aroma of tropical fruit and citrus with a mild herbalness. light malt bill...Flavors of coconut herbalness and citrus notes throughout. A little warming with a medium bodied and semi-lively carbonation.

On tap @ Beachwood BBQ. Clear golden pour with a white head. Big pineapple and marijuana nose. Grapefruit, melon, biscuit, and orange rind. Bitter flavor of grapefruit, orange rind, and pine. Light biscuit, some pineapple, grass, melon, and marijuana. Quite dry on the finish. Nice.

64oz growler. Huge thanks to GT2!! Pours a slightly hazy bright gold color with a finger of foamy white head. Huge fruity notes in the aroma. Grapefruit, pineapple, oranges, lemon, and papaya. Taste of bready malt, loads of grapefruit bitterness, citrus rind, and some lingering pine. Excellent beer!!

Tap at Pizza Port OB. Oh man, dry hoppy as hell with plenty of lemony Sorachi Ace. Clear light yellow gold with a creamy one finger white head, clingy lacing. Aroma has plenty of juicy fruity hops, lots of dry hopped goodness. Just some really light nutty rice in the aroma, which does follow through to the flavor. The finish is lemony Sorachi Ace again, and after a few seconds the flavor of ramen lingers, and not in a bad way. Like the 25 cent delicious ramen linger. So, the Sorachi definitely dominates, but there is a nice orange citrus bright fruit juiciness that is still present. Actually, the malt bill reminds me of Three Floyds Our Dear Leader, which also used rice (and Sorachi Ace). Bitterness peaked at a 4ish, dry. Light to moderate smooth carbonation with a medium body. Sorachi Ace is such a distinct hop, and I usually get sick of it, but maybe the other hops temper it enough (in this case) to not annoy me. Very tasty.

Growler shared by Ed at the IPA tasting. Poured a clear deep goden body with a smaller foamy white head. Aroma is rotting tropical fruits, bad oranges, dirty hop cones, wet breads and dank moist hops. Fuller bodied with average carbonation and slightly dry finish. Flavor is the same as the aroma with lots of dank hoppiness. Good stuff here.

Draft at PP Carlsbad. Pours a golden color, with a slight haze and a white head. Nice lacing. Fresh dank hops, grapefruit, pineapple, melon, grain, maybe a bit of dry ramen noodles, and pine bitterness. Very flavorful and dry. Great IPA.
