Tap at Sour & Bitter. Opaque black beer, good bubbly pale tan head. Minerally crisp palate. Smooth dark malt, a trace of roast. Very mild lacto. Finishes crisp with a whisper of dark chocolate and toffee. A crisp Impy!

Pours a black color with a khaki head. Really nice hop aromas of citrus peel, floral hops, and pine. A mild grassiness, too. There is a good imperial stout base to it of cocoa powder, roasted malt, and licorice. The flavor is a bit on the dry side. Roasted malt and cocoa, maybe a touch of licorice are the main stout components, otherwise it’s fairly hoppy. Plenty of citrus, pine, and floral hop notes with a moderate bitterness. More like a black IPA than a stout. But, I enjoyed it.

Scopey (15263) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2012
Tap at Sour & Bitter 2012. It pours very dark brown, with a decent light tan head. The nose is toasted coconut, treacle, meat, roasted malt, coffee and caramel. The taste is liquorice, charcoal, coffee, roasted malt, baked goods, spice and alcohol warmth in the finish. Full body and fine carbonation. A solid Imperial Stout.
