3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap, pizza port solana beach. Deep amber color, sweet malt brown sugar. Flavor is over the top sweet, towering over any bitterness that may be there. Strong alcohol present throughout. Pleasing, warming character, but just too simple & one-dimensional. Ok I guess.
From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden deep brown with a deep orange glare and a small off white head. Aroma is overripe dark fruity, roasted malty too. Sweet caramelish, light fruity. Toasted malty and caramelish. saxo (18961) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - JUL 18, 2012
Tap @ Pizza Port, Ocean Beach. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are rich caramel, dried fruits, nuts, notes of alcohol and hops. Sweet finish and dry as well. JorisPPattyn (10061) - BELGIUM - MAY 11, 2012
Draught Small rim over red-brown beer. Sweet, coloured malts, cookies with caramel, lightly herbal. Alcoholic bread; leafy, near-bitterish notes, parsley. Balance - for its ABV - is impressive. Bit "tangy"; good against any danger of cloying. Well-bodied, very slick. Impressive, as it absolutely doesn’t show its awesome potence. Great! Camons (12908) - Hasselager, DENMARK - MAR 14, 2012

Tap at OB. Clear medium ruby, creamy beige head about 1/2 finger high and well-retained. Flavor has nice rich toffee caramel, moderate toasted malts, a bit of tobacco/decaying wet leaves. Flavor follows, quite rich, lots o toffee and caramel and toast. Semi-dry at best, light alcohol (not near10.5%),bitterness was earthy and peaked at a 2. Full body with light carbonation. Good, unsmoky Scotch ale. cubs (10677) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 10, 2012
Boulder Strong Ale Fest. Hazy red orange appearance with a tan head. Rich, sweet caramel, a touch spicy aroma. Somewhat fruity, rich caramel/toffee flavor that’s a bit sweet but still tasty. GT (10001) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 20, 2012
Tap at Solana Beach location with Ocean Beach moniker. Oh man this is not good. Ãœber sweet, sticky syrupy with some harsh alcohol bite and iron metallic. Clear deep amber SRM with weak head retention. Nose is way off: chemical, sharp, maybe wood grain and sticky grenadine. Even green olive brine Could not finish a taster. Ultra ultra blood iron metallic finish. Bad.

(Draught) Pours a clear reddish-brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, raisins, caramel, and bread. Flavor of raisins, caramel, roasted malt, vanilla, and brown sugar. SDalkoholic (2395) - Linda Vista, California, USA - JAN 14, 2012
On tap @ Pizza Port Ocean Beach: Poured in a half pint glass with a generous overflow of liquid that could barely keep the small development of foam head. The head quickly flat lined out leaving behind a bare and naked dark amber liquid. Nose is bold with a heavy backbone of malts dominating the aroma and allowing me to understand as to why this was served in such a small glass. The flavor is overbearing with a thick taste of caramel malts that has me drowning in alcohol and sugary beer.
